concrete.
Stone Masonry – It is characterized as durable, strong, or weather resistant as stone. Due to its
durability, it will last for a long time. It does not swell, bend, warp, splinter, or dent. And it has numerous
advantages as a material.
Brick Masonry – It is known to have a good performance because it is done with burnt clay bricks. The
tensile strength is limited. It is commonly used for facing and size, position and number of openings
greatly affects the performance of brick masonry.
Block Masonry
Concerete Hollow Block (CHB) – It consists of two or three cells or cores. It is made up of water,
Portland cement, various types of aggregate and crush stone. It is usually used in residential buildings,
schools, churches and other public buildings. The material itself is light in weight and stronger than

Gabion Masonry – It is zinc-protected steel that are filled with fractured stone in a medium size. It acts
as a single unit to form a retaining wall. It is a great resistant to horizontal pressure, flood, water flor
from above, frost damage, and soil flow.

Reinforced Masonry – a construction system where steel reinforcement in the form of reinforcing bars is
placed in the mortar and filled with concrete. This will improve the resistance to horizontal loads like
seismic loads.
