Answer the following questions:
Knowledge
What are Human rights?
Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of
residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, language, or any other status. We are
all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. These rights are all
interrelated, interdependent and indivisible.
Universal human rights are often expressed and guaranteed by law, in the forms of treaties,
customary international law, general principles and other sources of international law.
International human rights law lays down obligations of Governments to act in certain ways
or to refrain from certain acts, in order to promote and protect human rights and fundamental
freedoms of individuals or groups.
What are the differences between rights and duties?
Rights.
These are the rights and freedom guaranteed by the constitutions of some countries of the
world to their citizen. These rights have a legal sanction and are enforceable in a court of
law. A fundamental right exists by virtue of the fact that you are a human being and is based
on privilege granted to you. There are 6 fundamental rights.
Any citizen for that matter can make full use of his fundamental rights pertaining to right of
life, freedom of speech etc.
Duties.
Fundamental duty is the basic duty or responsibility bestowed on you as a citizen of the
country. A fundamental duty exists as a responsibility on you as a human being and it is
based on accountability. There are 11 fundamental duties.
Any citizen for that matter is expected to carry out fundamental duties fully well so that the
society as a whole will be benefited.
Why "should" anyone respect the human rights?
These human rights reflect the minimum standards necessary for people to live with dignity.
Human rights allows the people the freedom to choose how they live, how they express
themselves, and what kind of government they want to support, among many other things. It
also makes sure and also guarantee people the means necessary to satisfy their basic needs,
such as food, housing, and education, so they can take full advantage of all opportunities.
Finally, by guaranteeing life, liberty, equality, and security, human rights protect people
against abuse by those who are more powerful.
Application
What are the 3 most important things our country needs in order to be able to protect the
rights of every citizen? Explain each.
The 3 most important things in order to protect the rights of every citizen is to RESPECT,
PROTECT, and FULFILL.
Respect
Our government must not deprive people of a right or interfere with persons exercising their
rights.
The government should create constitutional guarantees of human rights and will be able to
provide ways for people who have suffered human rights violations by the government to
seek legal remedies from domestic and international courts. They should also sign
international human rights treaties.
Protect
Our government must prevent private actors from violating the human rights of others.
They should prosecute perpetrators of human rights abuses, such as crimes of domestic
violence and they will need to educate the people about human rights and the importance of
respecting the human rights of others.
The government should also need to learn on how to cooperate with the international
community in preventing and prosecuting crimes against humanity and other violations.
Fulfill
Our government must take positive action to facilitate the enjoyment of basic human rights.
The government should be able to provide free, high-quality public education and create a
public defender system so that everyone has access to a lawyer.
They should also ensure everyone has access to food by funding public assistance programs
and to also fund a public education campaign on the right to vote.
In a school in Baliuag, getting about is a problem for many students with disabilities.
What would be the 3 most effective improvements that could be made in our schools for
instance, a blind person?
First, is to create a staff for the blind person who will be willing to undergo a instruction
training in order to accommodate person with disabilities. Because students with visual
disabilities will succeed educationally when their instruction and the school services are
provided appropriately and are tailored to each student’s unique needs. It is important to hire
staff and trained them to become inclusive with their teaching strategies.
Second, is to incorporate assistive technology. items designed specifically to help people
with vision loss or other disabilities, including everything from screen readers for blind
individuals or screen magnifiers for low-vision computer users, video magnifiers and other
devices for reading and writing with low vision, to braille watches and braille printers.
Because they will be needing the tools that is especially made for them.
Lastly, is to allow them the free use of note takers and readers taking notes during class
lectures is an important part of being able to study and learn the required material. Because
students can secure the services of an assigned note taker through their college’s disability
office. Note takers are other students who take notes during each class, which can then be
converted to Braille or large print for reading. The school may also provide free access to a
laptop computer or Braille notetaking device that allows students to take their own notes
during class and the school will also need listening enhancers and Computer-Aided
Transcription Devices (CART) it will provide the students with visual disabilities have
different levels of hearing ability and may request specialized services that fit their needs.
Some students may require speech amplification services in class, while others may need
computer assisted real-time transcription (CART). Speech amplification uses an FM
transmitter and receiver unit that wirelessly amplifies speech through a microphone worn by
the speaker in the class and a listening device worn by the student.
You are going on a long drive journey and will have to share your car with people from
different countries. Choose the 2 nationalities you would most like to share with and
which 2 would you least like to share with? Explain your choice
The 2 nationalities that I chose is the Japanese and a Swiss. Because I would really want to
know the Japanese traits, culture, language, places to visit, its history and to exactly know
how unique their living is. I am really fascinated about nature and if I will be able to travel
with a Swiss I would be able to know how they preserve their country and to be able to try
different chocolates. I may be able to visit it one day and my friend Swiss will be my tour
guide. and during my travel with a Japanese and a Swiss I will be also teaching them about
the Philippines and also as a Filipino. It may be hard because of language barrier but we can
also break this barrier by learning.
The 2 least nationalities that I don’t like to share with is the Indian and a Chinese. Because in
India the way they prepare and eat their food is really disturbing and their country is a male
dominated society and their country is popular with arranged marriage. In Chinese people
their culture and traits are very difficult to deal with and the way they treat animals is very
disturbing and they mostly eat exotic animals as a part of their culture. Their country is really
overpopulated and they should also take the responsibility about the Corona virus.
Name the main reasons why gender-based discrimination still exists in the Philippines.
Here in the Philippines, these include differences in education choices, preferred job and
industry, work experience, number of hours worked, early marriage, and breaks in
employment (such as for bearing and raising children). Men also typically go into higher paid
and higher risk jobs when compared to women. Some are still systematically denied equal
access to jobs. Sexual violence and exploitations is still being performed. There are still
unequal division of unpaid care and domestic work, and discrimination because of gender.
