DETAILED LESSON PLAN

In
MATH 8

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:
 illustrate parallel lines,
 determine pair of angles formed by parallel lines and transversals,
 solve for the unknown angles of the parallel lines and transversals.

III. PROCEDURE:
A. Preparation
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
1. Prayer
“Please stand, let’s pray.”
(All students will stand)
2. Greetings
“Good Morning Class.”
“Good Morning ma’am!”
3. Attendance
(Checking of Attendance)

B. Motivation
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

The students will be having film viewing !

(Video Song) (Students take down important facts from the video)
C. Presentation
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

Class, from the video you had viewed, what do you

think is our lesson for today? Ma’am it’s all about parallel.
Ma’am transversal.
Very good!

Parallel lines and transversals is our topic today.

Are you ready to listen?

Yes ma’am

D. Discussion
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity
Parallel lines- two lines are parallel if and only if they
are coplanar and they do not intersect.

Activity 1.

Students will determine if the given parts of line are

parallel.
1. Not parallel
2. Not parallel
3. Not parallel
4. Parallel
5. Parallel
6. Parallel
Transversal - a line that intersects two or more lines at
different points.

Line T- is the transversal

A. The angles formed by the transversal with the

two other lines are called:
(Students will read and analize)
Exterior Angles - angles made by a transversal that are
outside the region between the two intersected lines
                    example :  ∠1, ∠2, ∠7 and ∠8

Interior Angles - angles made by a transversal that lie

inside the region between the two intersected lines
                    example :  ∠3, ∠4, ∠5 and ∠6
Alternate exterior angles

B. The pairs of angles formed by the transversal

with the other two lines are called:

Alternate-Exterior Angles - a pair of non-adjacent

exterior angles on opposite sides of the transversal
                    example :  ∠1 and ∠8, ∠2 and ∠7
Alternate interior angles
Alternate-Interior Angles - a pair of non-adjacent
interior angles on opposite sides of the transversal
                     example:  ∠3 and ∠6, ∠4 and ∠5

Corresponding Angles - a pair of non-adjacent angles -

one interior, one exterior - both on the same side of the
Corresponding angles
transversal
                   example :  ∠1 and ∠5, ∠3 and ∠7,  ∠2 and
∠6, ∠4 and ∠8

Interior Angles on the same side of the transversal

 interior angles on the same side of the
examples: < 3 and < 5,< 4 and <6
transversal are supplementary.
 exterior angles on the same side of the
Exterior Angles on the same side of the transversal
transversal are supplementary.
examples: < 1 and < 7,<2 and < 8

Have you understood it class?

Yes ma’am.
D. Application
Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

1. 110°
2. 84°
3. 80°
4. 111°
5. 125°
6. 47°
7. 53°
8. 113°

E. Generalization

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

Parallel lines- two lines are parallel if and only if they
are coplanar and they do not intersect.
If two lines are cut by a transversal, then the two lines
are parallel if:

 corresponding angles are congruent.

 alternate-interior angles are congruent.
 alternate-exterior angles are congruent.
 interior angles on the same side of the
transversal are supplementary.
 exterior angles on the same side of the
transversal are supplementary.

Yes ma’am
Understood!

IV. EVALUATION:
Direction: List the following pairs of angles .(1/2 crosswise)
a. Exterior angles
b. Interior angles
c. Corresponding angles
d. Alternate exterior angles
e. Alternate interior angles
f. Interior angles on the same side of the transversal
g. Exterior angles on the same side of the transversal
