 Warm Up to speaking goal:

 Customize speaking goal and WRITE IT ON THE BOARD

Speaking goal: to talk about your experience visiting a place for vacation with a friend

 Presentation (1. Lead In 2. SFR (min 3) 3. Cue)

Ask a student if he/she has ever flown on a plane.

Then ask what was his/her longest flight/drive (if student hasn’t been on a plane) ever- (put emphasis on the ever)

Ask another student “what was your best hotel stay ever?”

Ask another student “what was your most exciting vacation ever?”

Introduce anywhere, everywhere, nowhere and somewhere using build up technique

Ask one of the students if he or she is going out tonight (try to obtain agreement) and then ask the rest of the class if
we know somewhere (elicit a negative answer). Then say he/she is going somewhere tonight.

Then ask if another student is also going out. But explain he/she has a lot of work to do at home. Then say he/she
isn’t going anywhere tonight.

Show them a picture of a really crowded bus and tell them one of them took that bus. Ask them if there is a place to
sit (N). Then add there is nowhere to sit.

Show a picture of a really crowded beach and ask them if there are a lot of tourists (y). There are tourists
everywhere.

Introduce vocabulary

When do most people go on vacation? (Answer)- Peak season

Is (a different month ) a peak season for travel? – off-season

Are the rates higher or lower during off-season? Get discounts

Buy a ticket just before the day you travel? Last minute

Did you get a great price on a last minute buy? Got a deal

Where do you look for those deals? Find deals on the internet

Some of those deals include hotel, meal, sightseeing, etc- package tour
A weekend vacation? - A weekend getaway

Chain story
The teacher will start a story by designating a title (“The Worst Summer Holiday Ever!”) and then writing a sentence
on the board. Then students will come and write a sentence each, one by one, and complete the story.

 PERFORMANCE (Role Plays, Debates, Discussions, Pros & cons and presentations). Use PTP Cycle to maximize
Student’s speaking time.
Students work in pairs. One of them is planning a trip to a place the other one has visited before. He asks advice on
what places to visit and for some recommendations to make the trip more enjoyable (regarding hotel,
transportation, restaurants, etc.)

 Wrap up & Confirm Speaking goal – Ask “Can you now…+ SG?”

 Assign homework – Including Website- Jot down information on Ped-Card
