PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION SPECIAL POPULATIONS 2

Philosophy of Education Special Populations

I personally believe that each and every child has the ability to learn with the exception

of having the right person to teach in a way that they will learn what is being taught, despite

their physical well-being, emotional, intelectual, or socioeconomic growth. To teach a child

with a special need requires patience, love, understanding, and to be mentally able to find a

simpler learning strategy for each individual child that still motivates and stimulates their

learning process.

To educate any child with special needs you have to implement different strategies in

the classroom for learning achievement.

Technology is a new way of learning. Using technology in the classroom for students

with learning disabilities you may need to use special technology equipment such as computers

and software programs.

For instance, a child with a visual impairment may use computers which have voice

software which may provide instructions for the students in the course of learning. Students

with hearing impairment, will need additional visualization of the learning material and the

modern software and computers allow such visualization. Bilingual learners have special needs

compared to the average learners as well as other learners as I mentioned above. The use of

two languages is the distinct feature of the bilingual classroom. The use of online dictionaries

can be helpful, while learning literature to help them understand better the meaning of certain

words. For instance, there are many words that have the similar written form in English and

French or Spanish, but they have different meanings and, therefore, cannot be applied in the

specific context. However, bilingual learners can fail to catch the difference and they may just

misinterpret some words.

As a result, implementing technology in the classroom students will learn more

effectively and successfully. The use of special software and hardware can help students with

disabilities to learn successfully since the software and hardware will close the gap between

them and other students, which do not have any disabilities.

The use of technology in a diversity classroom is very beneficial to all children in the

techno-life we are all living now.
