Greasers & Socs - for mixed

show choir
For this theme, we are telling the story of a girl from the
hood/wrong side of the tracks chasing after an affluent preppy
boy. A flip to the story of the musical Grease.
Opener
- Secret love by Hunter Hayes
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iKWnPldrCQ

❖ Introduces the fact that the girl and boy are from different “worlds” -- a modern day Romeo & Juliet..
Contrasting Style/Character Piece
- Kiss You by One Direction
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAXE3JANcsU

❖ Brings a flirty element our story

❖ Shows the preppy boy become more influenced by the flirty, hood girl
❖ Right after this song ends, 3 couples leave stage and change
Ballad
- I’m Falling For You by Chester See
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UWgnQxLe_c

❖ Boys and girls paired

❖ Slow and subtle movements - almost a slow dance at times
Character/Costume Change
- Ready or Not by Bridgit Mendler
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U19pJHR0Qz4

❖ As soon as the song starts everyone leaves the stage

❖ 3 couples that left before ballad come back on stage
❖ Every break in the lyrics more couples come on stage (boys come on from stage left, girls from stage
right and meet each other in the middle of the stage and then move to their given spot)
❖ By the end of the song all pairs should be on stage
Closer
- Still into You by Paramore
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sjwsdFUCBI

❖ If there’s anyone left without a partner they should come onto the stage as the music for this song starts
Background/Special Effects
❖ A tribute to legacy couples
of unexpected love stories.
Spotlight scenes from
other movies with this
story such as Grease, The
Outsiders, and Happy
Days
Girls’ Makeup
❖ A dramatic red eye that also comes
underneath the eye
❖ Red eyeshadow color should be a pure red
color (no pinks, light reds, burgundy, etc.)
❖ Eyeshadow should have a little sparkle to it
❖ A slight wing out
❖ Fake eyelashes
❖ Golden glitter in the corner of eye
Opening Costumes - Girls
❖ Red long sleeve is tucked into pants
❖ Leave dance briefs with costume change dress -
pants will be too tight - you’ll be able to see shorts
through them
❖ Hair should be a high ponytail with a bump - hair
in ponytail should be stick straight (this is just a
suggestion - hair could be however each
individual wants)
Opening Costumes - Boys
❖ Preferably all have on white shorts
❖ Dark colored tennis shoes - or the red ones
we have in the costume room
❖ Their shirts don’t all have to be the same
color - has to be tucked in but can be
fluffed out
❖ Over sweater tied around the neck isn’t
necessary
❖ Belt is needed
❖ Side part for their hair - still fluffy
Costume Change - Girls
❖ Since we have people released back onto stage
at different times, girls should have enough time
to change their shoes
Costume Change - Boys
❖ Tight fitted black t-shirt - not tucked in
❖ Light jeans
❖ Keep shoes from before costume change
❖ During change - boys should have a thing of hair
putty to help make their hair look tousled and just
messy
Final Reasoning
This set is a classic story of breaking rules and boundaries. Timeless stories
from Romeo and Juliet to Dallas and Cherry and is still seen today.

It also shows how the characters attempts to change their way of life, seen in
the costume change, to try and be more accepted by the other character’s friends
and family.
