Show Choir Set Concept

For Girls Group

Concept
My concept is basically like a girl being in a love with a murderer/criminal. It’s kind of
like a beauty in the beast type situation. This can be represented by the whole choir
where all the girls are like in love with one criminal. (There’s a boy dressed up like a
criminal as a prop). It starts out with the girl falling in love with the criminal in song
1. Then in song 2, she tells her family about how she loves him. The 3rd song is about
her family disapproving and her being sad and upset, but her saying that she can’t help who
she loves. The 4th song is about the girl trying to seduce the man into falling in love
with her because he doesn’t necessarily feel the same in the beginning, and this will merge
into the 5th song in which takes a dark twist as the girl is portrayed as actually be a
psychopath and wanting the man to love her back. The closer is supposed to be a couple
years in the future where she has killed the man she loves because he didn’t want to be
with her. I was also thinking we could potentially have a narrator of some sort.
Opener
So I was thinking the show would open with the theme song of
Phantom of the Opera called “Phantom of the Opera” composed
by Andrew Lloyd Webber. I think this would be good
establishing the fact that the girl(the girl part of the
choir)is in love with the “Phantom” or the criminal. Only a
portion of the song would be used because there is also a
boy part, but no boys can be singing,

I was thinking after the opener, the girls transition into

singing about how in love they are with this man, so I was
thinking using the song “Criminal” by Brittany Spears.

Ballad

For the ballad, I was thinking after the girl had told her
family who she is in love with, they disapproved because he
is a criminal. So in the ballad she is expressing her
feelings through the song “You Love Who You Love” from
Bonnie & Clyde the Musical.

Character Piece/Costume Change

For this song I was thinking something similar to Mustang

Sally with only limited girls but to the song “Whatever Lola
Wants” by Sarah Vaughan to demonstrate how she wants this
criminal, and how he isn’t necessarily interested. This
song will go into “Super Psycho Love” by Simon Curtis which
will demonstrate how she is showing her crazy sign, and
switch up the show a little bit.

Closer

I was thinking that my closer would be “Cell Block Tango”

from the musical Chicago. I was thinking that this would
demonstrate like a couple years into the future about how
she killed the man because of how crazy she was about him,
while also featuring other girls who had also killed their
significant others.

 Special Effects/Background
I was thinking for the backgrounds and special effects we
could have a boy as prop dressed up as a criminal, and we
could have the rotating rectangle/square with these images:

represent how she’s in represent the sadness she’s trying to represent the
love: she is feeling because seduce this man prison feel
of her family:
Costumes
In the beginning I was thinking more of a dressy feel
because the girl seems innocent and in love, but the 2nd
half takes a dark turn with her trying to be seductive and
becoming crazy.

Reasons This Show is the One:

I think that this show is the one because it’s a lot

different than Bella’s previous shows, and it is a bit dark.
Additionally, I think the storyline is really interesting
and something the judges would be interested in because they
like storylines (I remember one of the judges saying our
show would be better with a storyline). Lastly, I think the
girls would get into this show and really enjoy because of
the dark sexy theme, so this would definitely improve the
energy level.
