What is a Technology Based Assessment

This is an assessment that is administered using technology that helps to monitor and evaluate the progress of a
student. This type of assessment has grown over the past few years and can be beneficial to special education
students. These types of assessments are easy to use, help teachers to collect data quickly, and are fun and
enjoyable for the students. The following based assessment types are being frequently used and can be easily
modified to best access the individual students understanding of the selected content.

What is Kahoot
Kahoot is a learning game that allows teachers
the ability to create interactive games that
measure a students knowledge or retention of
a subject (What is Kahoot!, 2017). These
games are put together with a series of
multiple choice questions that can be
comprised of videos or images. There are also
plenty of pre made Kahoots that are available
for teachers to use. Kahoot is best played in
class and allows students a fun way to
compete with their friends to complete a quiz
(What is Kahoot!, 2017). Teachers are also
able to assign Kahoots for homework to
reinforce what has been learned during class.
What is QUIZIZZ
Quizizz is a fun interactive assessment that has a pace set
by the students ability. Teachers are able to make and
assign assessments based on current lessons or it can be
used as a pre quiz to test prior knowledge of a lesson.
Making a Quizzizz is easy and allows teachers the ability
to add photos, charts, and other images to enhance the
game (What is Quizizz, 2018). Once a Quizizz has been
started teachers are able to see a students progress and
success in real time allowing them to offer support to
those students in need (What is Quizizz, 2018). Once
completed, the student and teacher will be given a report
that shows the questions the student got right and the
ones they got wrong this will allow them to review the
correct answers. To top it off, Quizizz is completely free!
Quizlet
Quizlet is a software that allows teachers the ability to use
assessments to measure the success of their students (What
is Quizlet, 2018). Teachers are able to create study sets that
help students prepare for upcoming test or work with friends
to complete an assignment. This software makes a teachers
life easy as all assessments are graded live and allows
teahers the ability to understand what concepts a student is
struggling with (What is Quizlet, 2018). Quizlet can also be
played during class using the Quizlet live feature. This
feature allows students to compete individually or as a team
aginast each other during class. This is a fun twist that helps
keep students engaged!

Recommendation
All three assessment technologies are benifical when used appropratly. I would personally recommend Kahoot
due to its user friendly playing mode, the simplicity of making a new assessment, its ability to measure a students
knowledge in live time, and it’s ability to grab and hold a students attention. During my own experiences students
love to play Kahoot and ask to play constantly. This technology helps to make a teachers life a little bit easier by
grading assessments as they happen and allows for an easy comparision amoungst different students. This
technology is also a great study tool for students that can be played at home or on the go. Overall Kahoot is a form
of technology that can be used by all teachers to help measure a students ability to retain information.
