Task 3- Inferences

A) Growth story of the company-

Academy of Carver Aviation was established in the year of 1995, 19th August, is one of the
most esteemed flying schools in India. Thousands of students have built their careers as Pilots
while training with carver.

Growth in terms of Aircraft and Course Profile-

The Academy is started with only 3 aircrafts in 1995 with only one course of Pilot training. Soon
the success of academy flies high and it had 11 aircraft in 2011, and due to usage right now there
are 8 aircraft in flying condition and rest of them are used for training purpose. It proudly
displays their 11 Aircraft in the Profile. Carver has a fleet of single engine & multi engine
Aircrafts that includes Cessna 152, Cessna 172 & Partenavia P68C.

In respect of courses, it runs Pilot training courses like commercial Pilot license (CPL), Private
Pilot License (PPL) as well as Aircraft Maintenance engineering course from 2010.

Growth in terms of Market Share-

In respect of an educational flying institute the market share can be measured in terms of student
enrolled as well as the quality of education and training it provide to its student for job security.

There is no Ranking system for flying institutes, only private sites are allowed to have a ranking
system which is not confirmed by the government therefore there is no formal ranking system for
these institutes. Hence, the share of the institute can be measured in terms of number of students
enrolled.

From the last 5 years there is full capacity for CPL and PPL courses. Whereas, when AME
course first started in 2010 there has problem been faced by institute in enrolling the student for
the course but from the last 3 years there is full capacity for them also. It depicts the growth of
institute in terms of market share.

Growth in terms of Infrastructure-

The school, with an infrastructure spread across 3,89,000 sq. ft is located in the rain shadow
region of Baramati, Maharashtra. Institute covered long journey in terms of its infrastructure
from just one institute building and runway it came a long way having its own-

 Control Tower with its personal designated frequency of 129.25 utilized for all flight
activities.
 Hanger the DGCA approved which comprises of an area of 5000 sq ft and enables 4
aircraft' maintenance at a time.
 Academy of Carver Aviation has access to a 1,80,000 sq ft apron, for parking its fleet.
 A 7700 ft tarmac runway with a breadth of 150 feet and orientation of 11/29.
 It also has its own AME School within the campus of carver aviation.
 Own English language proficiency Centre the construction of building is done, it is
waiting for the approval from D.G.C.A.
 It also has its own Inhouse maintenance facility consist of electrical shops and engin e
maintenance approved by D.G.C.A. In the start the aircraft maintenance is not done in the
campus due to which the flying is stopped for 1 month and results in losses for the
institute therefore it decided to have its own inhouse maintenance facility.

B) Company Organizational Culture-

According to its Vision statement- “At Carver Aviation we have chosen Airmanship as our motto
to continually remind us that we must reach an understanding of each element in the aviation
environment namely Air Man Ship with a continuous emphasis on Flight Safety..”

Followed by its mission statement-” Our aim is to produce the optimum blend of aircraft
manipulative skills, academic application, leadership and command character, all combined with
a competent knowledge of business and aviation management testing”

The company achieved the height of success due to its consistent approach to complete its
mission statement with a clear direction of vision. According to my analysis of its growth
patterns the company followed “Open door Policy” organizational culture rather than a
Corporate culture of proper hierarchical system. It believes in autonomy and communication
policy in which manager, supervisor promote transparency and openness in the company.

As an intern even I got full right and opportunity to put my opinion in front of my team members
and my mentor where the most promise once are implemented as well.

It receives recognition and achievement due to its transparency and clear vision and
implementation.

C) Comparative performance and Benchmarking Practice in Industry-

There are many competitive institutes present in India as well as outside the India. In India the
top competitive institutes are- Bharat Institute of Aeronautics, Pune Institute of Aviation
Technology, Star Aviation Academy, Indian Aerospace and Engineering, Thakur Institute of
Aviation Technology. Whereas outside India if we take USA highly competitive institutes where
most of Indian students take admission are- Atlantis Aviation, US Aviation Academy, Wayman
Aviation Academy, Epic Flight Academy, Florida Flyers Flight Academy.

The Benchmarking Practices used in this Industry are as follows-

 Highly active on Social Media and use of Digital Marketing

 All famous competitors are present on all social media platform to increase its promotion
and brand awareness. For example, on- Linked in, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Blog
site, Newsletter, they run ads campaign, paid promotion etc.
 Trained and licensed Instructors with high rating helps them to stand out.
 More number of aircrafts and a greater number of Tie ups with major airlines is also one
of the benchmarking practices in this Industry.
 Rich infrastructure to provide better on field training and safe place to live and learn.
