I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and healthy
in your homes. Governor Ivey has opened up many
gathering places including churches. Safe distancing and
other safety measures like masks, gloves, hand washing,
etc. are still recommended. Your ministerial staff is
researching data for guidelines in opening up our facility
in phases as safely as possible. When we have all the
logistical work done in preparation for opening, you will
be notified in advance of the “hows” and when that will
happen. In the meantime, we will continue to worship by
live streaming our Sunday services. There is a survey
online at Eastmont.org that can assist us as we move for-
ward. We do value your opinions and suggestions. The
most important thing you can do for us is to pray that the
Holy Spirit will give us wisdom and discernment; and that
as a staff, we will be unified in the decisions that we make
concerning you and us, the church.
Bro. Jeff shared a powerful and meaningful message this
past Sunday from Joshua 7. After the miraculous defeat of
Jericho, three thousand of Israel’s 600,000 man army
were turned back by the men of Ai, killing thirty-six of
Israel’s army. We discover that one man, Achan, had
disobeyed God and caused the defeat of Ai. Not only
were 36 families devastated by Achan’s sin, but a nation
of several million had their faith shaken.
The lesson we learn is that God demands our obedience.
Our own disobedience not only offends our Creator, who
took upon Himself our sin on a cruel Roman cross as He
suffered, bled and died for us, but sin can affect our
families and the body—the church. In John 14:15 Jesus
said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.”
Disobedience can affect a nation. Obedience honors God.
Whether staying at home or safely distancing with one
another in worship—we can and should be obedient. He
expects nothing less (1 Samuel 15:22)!

COVID-19 Updates
ALL PHYSICAL GATHERINGS HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED AT
THIS TIME. When we are able to begin the process of
opening back up we will send out information with
details through our website, social media, email and the
Encourager. Leadership will be reassessing on June 1st.
Sunday Worship Services
Services are available online only through live stream. Join

COVID-19 Congregational Survery
As we begin making decisions about how to respond to
the most recent COVID-19 regulations regarding churches,
we ask that you help us by answering a short survey. This
survey includes several questions concerning your
experience with COVID-19 and your current feelings on
returning to regular church activities when Eastmont
resumes its weekly gatherings. Go to eastmont.org/covid-
19-survery to complete the survey or call the church office
for other options for completing the survey.
Prayer and Fasting
Join us in fasting from sunrise to sunset on Thursdays.
During the time that you would usually eat, pray for our
faith family, our nation, and all those impacted by the
COVID-19 virus.
Caring for One Another
If you are a church member or know of a church member
requiring assistance with essential needs such as grocery
pick up, pharmacy pick up, financial needs or any other
essential needs please call the church office and / or send
an email to ebc@eastmont.org.

VBS - June 23-25. BOLT toward faith in Jesus! Please invite
your friends, family, and neighbors to join us for Virtual
VBS at their very own home. Some resources will be
supplied if you register by June 7. Go to eastmont.org/
virtualvbs to register. We encourage you to share the link
with friends and family!
This is also a great opportunity for grandparents to spend
quality time with their grandchildren. Designed for ALL

VIRTUAL WEDNESDAYS
Cleve broadcasts a video message for students and
families through Facebook Live and Instagram each
Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. Our current series is
UNFINISHED: A Study Through Philippians.
LIFEGROUPS VIA ZOOM
Each Sunday morning, our student LifeGroups meet using
the ZOOM app. Check the student ministry Facebook
page for more information.
SUMMER PLANS
Our mission trip was cancelled due to COVID-19. Super
Summer Alabama is still scheduled to take place (July 6-
10). We are brainstorming ideas for local Summer
activities to take place in July. And we also hope to be
able to attend SPEAK in Trussville, AL (July 24-25).
FAMILY BIBLE STUDY
Families should intentionally study God's Word
together. Cleve is challenging students and families to
read the epistle of Hebrews. There are weekly ZOOM
calls open to any Eastmont people wishing to join. Check
the Student Ministry Facebook page for details.
College & Career Ministry

Missions
Buckleys’ Business Fund
Support IMB missionaries, Jamie and Lauren Buckley, as
they begin their business in South Asia. Write a check to
Eastmont and put “IMB business fund” in the memo line.
Food Donations
Help Eastmont partner with the Montgomery Baptist
Association to feed those in need through the River
Region Rolling Store. Drop off donations at Entrance A in
the container labeled “Food Donations.”
Music & Worship Ministries

The Music and Worship Ministries miss worshipping with
you in person...but, what a blessing it is to worship
virtually with you each Sunday. Many men and women
are giving time, talents and efforts to make our online
Sunday Worship Services possible.
Praying that you are able to join us from where you are
in these different times. If you are unable to watch each
week online please let us know. We would love to get
you a DVD of the service or help get you connected in

Senior Adult Ministry

Forever Young
Tentatively set for June 16th. We will meet in fellowship
hall for the program and the covered dish that follows.
Our special guest will be Eastmont’s very own Picking,
Grinning and Singing Group.
Please don’t hesitate to call me or the church if you have
an essential need during these times as we face the
COVID-19 Virus together.
Homebound Ministry
The Eastmont Homebound Ministry is in need of
volunteers to visit and/or be caregivers for our members
who are homebound, in nursing homes or assisted living
facilities. If you are interested, please call Mary Ann
Plemons at the church office or email her at
mplemons@eastmont.org. Once the visiting restrictions
are lifted due to COVID-19, we will get in touch with you.
In the meantime, volunteers can send cards of
encouragement to these precious members of our
church family.
