SUMMARY

This report was to understanding about thinking of students about the learning online. A
questionnaire comprising 7 questions (2 closed questions, 2 open-ended questions and 3
combination questions) was prepared, tested and then used in the survey with 23
participants.
The main findings were that the online course has many advantages but there are still
some issues that need to be solved in the future. Most of students think that offline
learning is better and we shouldn't continue studying online after the end of the covid-19
epidemic. Besides, as the survey shows, students have some very good thoughts that can
better benefit online classes
The recommendations are that students should be read slide and textbook before study,
stay focus on the lessons and have a team to revising after each lesson.

INTRODUCTION

I. Purpose
The purpose of this report is to find more about the process of studying online of
VNU-IS students have been going through.

II. Scope
The report examines the process of studying online. It does not examine studying
offline because the purpose of this survey is more understand about thinking of
students about studying online. The respondents are the VNU-IS students who are
joining in online learning program.

III. Sources

The information for this report was gathered from the following sources:
 Survey questionnaires
 The Internet

I. Data collection
1. Questionnaires
In order to find out the students’ evaluation on online learning process, the
questionnaire was used as an instrument to collect information and it is very
easy for participants to answer questions. Questionnaires can be an effective
means of measuring the attitudes and opinions of respondents. There are 7
questions include: 2 closed questions, 2 open-ended questions and 3
combination questions.
Questionnaires were delivered to 23 participants on 21thof April 2020. It took
the participants about 5-10 minutes to finish their surveys. Right after that, 7
questionnaires were collected by the researcher.

This pie chart describes the number of subject students have in this semester. There are 4
segments, showing more than 6 subjects as 34.8%, 4-6 subjects as 56.5%, and none or
1-3 subjects only account for 4.3% each. This shows that students can keep up with the
curriculum and complete the credit for a semester.

1.2.  What is the advantages of studying online?

With the support of new technology software, online teaching - learning becomes really
easy and convenient for learners. All of student agreed that learning online have many
benefits. Among them, there are 3 advantages that a large of number students choose. 19
students said that they can be time saving, 11 votes for improve their technical skills and
13 votes for be on time. Besides, students also feel understand the lesson better.

1.3. What is the disadvantages of studying online?

Although learning online has many advantages, there are still some issues that need to be
improved. The survey showed that there are 10 responses to lack of interaction with
teachers; 16 responses to easy to distracted because of noise from children, people
moving around; 12 responses to difficulties with technology and interface, when

there is a problem with internet system, online learning is impossible; 13 responses

to complicated teamwork and 10 responses to cheating exams.

1.4. Some ways to improve the quality of online class?

According to the survey, almost everyone involved agreed that the best way to improve
the quantity of online class are checking the internet connection before studying with 11
votes, prepare many connection with 15 votes and manage time effectively with 15 votes.

When participants were asked about their level of satisfaction with online learning, most
of the responses were above or equal to the average. 14 students said that they feel
average, 5 students felt satisfied, only 1 sudents felt very satisfafied, but 3 people said
that they were dissatisfied with online learning.

1.6. In your opinion, should or should not continue studying online after
finishing covid-19 disease? And why? 

When conducting a survey about whether or not to continue learning online program after
finishing covid-19 disease, most people responded that they should not continue. Because
there are so many disadvantages that make them worry that their learning may be
affected, and the traditional program will be more effective than the online learning
program.

1.7. Do you have any suggestions to improve online learning program?

Here are some shares of some VNU students on how to learn online most effectively:
- Reading slide and textbook before study
- Stay focus and do homework
- Have a team to revising after each lesson
- Study on time and study in a quiet place
- Do not open any entertainment websites or phone.
- Interact a lot with teachers

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
If any conclusions may be drawn from this report, they are, perhaps, as follows:
 The online learning will be the best alternative during the Covid-19 pandemic.
 Online learning has both advantages and disadvantages, but it is very important
for our education.

I recommend that we should combine both online and offline study. The combination and
parallel application of both traditional and online learning will bring major progress to
the future of education. The benefits and advantages of Online learning are increased.
When the advantages and disadvantages of learning to one another can be compensated.
This combination will allow future students and faculty to learn more.
