Topic/Lesson Name: TYPES OF SPEECH STYLE
Content Standard: Recognizes that communicative competence requires
understanding of speech context, speech style, speech
act and communicative strategy.
Performance Standard: Demonstrates effective use of communicative strategy in a variety
of speech situations.
Learning Competency: Distinguishes types of speech style.
Learning Objectives: At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Identify the types of speech style.
b. Appreciate the importance of speech styles in
dealing with daily life situation.
c. Demonstrate appropriate speech style in a given
situation.
Time Allotment: 60 minutes
Materials: Powerpoint presentation, Laptop, Pictures, Videos

B. Activity “TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT”
The teacher will show different pictures of people and situation.
The learners will be asked to imagine themselves talking to the
different people, and what are they going to tell them. And on what
manner are they going to communicate with them.
C. Analysis The students will be asked what will be asked to compare the
differences of the manners on how they communicate with the
different people shown by their teacher.
The students will guess the topic base on the activity and by
arranging the jumbled group of words.
D. Abstraction “GUESSING TIME”
The students will be shown different videos and they will guess
what kind of speech style is used in each video. They will write their
answers on a scratch paper.

The students will define the types of speech style and give
examples base on their understanding.
TYPES OF SPEECH STYLE:
1. Frozen Speech Style
2. Formal Speech Style
3. Consultative Speech Style
4. Casual Speech style
5. Intimate Speech style
E. Application The students will be divided into five groups.
Each group will pick a number with corresponding scenario, and
demonstrate the appropriate speech style to use in the chosen
scenario.
