-virtual conversation on schoology with warmup
1. What steps did you go through to create this lesson? With whom did you talk, discuss, or edit your lesson?
To create this lesson I first thought of the types of activities I am getting for my virtual lessons and what I
thought the first graders would enjoy. I then did a bunch of research to find different websites I could use and
then created a worksheet and google form and other activities to make it more engaging and supplement what
they were learning. I then had my younger sister try out all the links and give me feedback on them.
2. How did the SOLs and Objectives help focus your instruction?
The SOL objectives definitely helped me focus my instruction because I was able to pick out key points I wanted
to focus on and find websites that specifically targeted the skills they need to work on.

The different games that I had chosen worked well because they are super fun to kids such as the pop the
bubble game. Not only does it make learning more interesting but kids also remember stuff better when they
are having fun.
6. How effective was the assessment you chose to use? (If no assessment was used, what will the future
assessment be and how will you gauge its effectiveness?)
I think the assessment is pretty effective because it is informal but still allows them to wrap up what they
learned and reflect on the material they still need work on.
7. To what degree do you feel that this lesson was a success? What evidence do you have for the success of
the lesson? (Hint: Student learning is the key to a lesson’s success!)
I won’t know until the students have actually done the lesson but I can base it off of what they say on their exit
tickets and also on The Trip to Fox Mountain worksheet. Hopefully they will all learn and improve on their
existing reading skills.
8. How did the time spent preparing for your lesson contribute to its success?
I spent a lot of time preparing for the lesson by doing a lot of research on websites that are out there for first
graders so I feel like that helped make the lesson successful.
9. If you could do this lesson again with the same students, would you do anything differently? If so, what?
I won’t really know until the students actually do the lesson but I hope it's not too challenging or too easy for
them and they can actually use it to learn.
