With regard to the Bored piling work forGTG foundation, CONTRACT documents describe as follovirs.

1) A4-JGS1EP-ES-1S-005_R0 Augered Cast In Place Piles Installation Specification

Section 3 7 Execution
3.7.7 Cutting Off
• Piles shall be cut off by removing fresh grout from the top of the pile or t>y
cutting off hardened grout down to the final cut-off point.

• Adding grout to raise the pile cut-off elevation after the pile has reached its
initial set shall not be permitted.

• Sleeves or casings shall tie placed around the pile top If the pile cut-off
elevation Is above the surrounding groirod surface elevallon.

• Reinforcing steel cages or central bar sftall t>e supported to prevent settling

And then, the concrete shall be refilled into the temporary steel casing up to

d) The temporary steel casing shall be pulled out very slowly

Originator's Recommended Solution (attach additional sheets if necessary)

Status
The piling work is facing infeasibility to bore the remaining 20-300 with casing due to the solid geographical condition, and the casing
keeps getting stuck while the work sequence is. around 770-7900to be bored by the auger bit in advance, then the casing attached
with diamond ring bit bores the remaining 20-300 VPCI figured out during the boring that surrounding actual geography is Guadalupe
condition consisted of high density limestone & coral, dornick that is not feasible to tie bored by casing ring bit

Technically casing is not required for the solid geographical condition and also not using casing could maximize the adhesive strength
between the concrete and surface of borehole. The attached T4 air hammer is compressing the borehole surface and the compressed
surface is too solid to additionally absorb the size of casing, unlike the previous H-0305 with typical auger bit which require the casing to
preserve the borehole against potential collapse with loosen soil

VPCI decided to pour concrete in the 1" borehole after observing 4 days since bored, without collapse and any particular change with
loose soil from the bottom without fully covered casing to the bottom due to the geographical condition that eventually stuck the Casing.
Less quantity of soil was emerged than expected volume of borehole after boring which could mean the borehole itself is compressed
and compacted by the function of T4 air hammer bit.

Proposal
VPCI proposes to bore the hole than inspect that the hole is solid enough without any potential collapse and sufficiently bored according
to the tolerable design as per speafication before pouring concrete without casing, in order to flexibly adapt the geographical condition.
Depth and width of borehole shall be measured with a weighted tape by all parties' loint inspection and witness while loose soil shall be
cleaned up in advance if required. Integnty test shall be carried out upon the entire bored piles then insufficient construction shall be
reinforced by engineering analysis or even additional pile according to the project ITP

As the borehole surface is with soil tensile force itself, it could withstand before the concrete is poured within 1.5 hours as minimum even
with extremely soft geographical condition.

Engineer's opinion
1 There is no such pile casing requirement for the bored piling worir as per our Project specifications And If the collapse of the wall does
not occur, casing is not necessary Purpose of using casing is to prevent collapse of the inner wall

2 Since there is no specification. Engineering deviation could not be issued by TQ but only could support the constructional TQ
3. It is Constructional responsibility to check the actual condition of tjorehole and determine whether to proceed pouring concrete or not.
In addition, visual inspection of the bore hole is one of the most reliable tests

4. Integrity test shall be carried out by Construction's responsibility to check the shape of concreting is satisfactory as per the design
If construction faces difficulties to fully satisfy the integrity test PEC will try to find solution

inclinometer with deviation of +/- 3%. (Verticality has correlation with

borehole Diameter in parallel aspect when viewed from top of the borehole
opening.)

c) Full length casing shall only be used when boring in typical soil conditions
without hard stratum (solid geographical condition). In relation full length of
casing is not always necessary even in typical soil conditions when borehole
can retain its shape and this can be visually check on site.

♦ Meaning of full casing - length of casing enough to cover the

depth of possible weak collapsible soil is found, does not
necessarily mean full length of pile length.

♦ Meaning of Collapsible soil - soil type which cannot maintain its

cylindrical shape eventually having potential of collapsing of entire
borehole.

d) In case the screw bit struggles to advance due to the stratum layer, a special
pneumatic jack hammer bit can be equipped, which can be break through
stratum layer.

e) When jack hammer is equipped and being used, the soil is being
simultaneously being compacted into the ground and only the loose soil will
be ejected upward through the auger blade and air pressure.

f) When boring such stratum soil conditions only minimal casing length may be
used to secure the borehole top shape diameter only enough to cover the pile
cut-off EL (+63.03m), but if top portion up to pile cut-off EL drilled w/o minimum
casing and still maintains its cylindrical shape then even minimal casing may not
be used. This is so that refrain from happening of usage of longer/full casing in
non-applicable soil conditions then getting casing eventually stuck up.

Cylindrical shapes are one of the most structurally sound, and strongest,
geometrical shapes it is good at resisting uniform interior or exterior
pressure.

g) During boring in-case some portion of borehole wall has collapsed and
widen due to the force of impact and air pressure through jack hammer.

This is not a concerning issue as the loose soil will be cleaned up prior to
insertion of rebar cage and concrete pouring and for the some widen
portions of borehole it is additionally beneficial over the design, while the

only disadvantage shall be more concrete volume Input cost.

In addition, during concrete pouring the unit weight and cohesive force of
the concrete itself will force out the non-equivalent compound outward, so
only the top contaminated concrete shall be carried out through the pouring
and over flowed above the pile cut-off elevation.

h) The depth of borehole shall be measured with a weighted tape after all loose
soil is cleaned up in the borehole.

i) Once loose soil and design depth elevation is met, rebar cage shall be
inserted.

j) The bored pile shall have verticality of 3% and maximum position tolerance
of 150mm.

k) To manually verify the consistency diameter of borehole DSOOmm @ +/-

24mm (+/-3%) = 77.4cm throughout the length of pile, A Rebar Ring pre-
measure w/ DIA of(78.5cm) with clearance allowance of 0.75cm each side
(to freely lower and raised) to (avoid exact fit 80cm ring to 80cm hole, w/c
may result in hard time lowering and raising) this rebar ring may be attached
to a string/rope, then may be lowered and raised exactly from center of the
pile.

I) Exposed rebar above the ground are required to be covered properly to

ensure that the crews or workers are prevented from injury.

m) In-case of due to some conditions and reasons where complete boring and
pouring cannot be performed, Pre-drilling may be performed to expedite the
boring process in advance, borehole shall be pre-drilled of depth and

3.2.5 Bored Hole Base Cleaning

To ensure total removal of sediments and loose soil particles at the bottom of
each pile, the following steps are taken.

a) When the drilling depth reaches the bearing layer which is defined in the
pile installation criteria, the bottom of the borehole should be leveled.
b) The cuttings, sediments and loose soil particles shall be removed by a high-
air pressure through an air nozzle equipped at the bottom of the auger
shaft. Before pulling out the drilling rig from the borehole, the excavated
materials at the bottom of the hole shall be removed completely by the high
air pressure.
c) The bottom of the hole shall be cleaned by several blows of the high air
pressure to ensure that the excavated debris piled at the bottom of the hole
is removed completely.
d) After cleaning up the hole, a weighted tape is lowered down the bottom of
the hole to measure the drilling depth. A joint inspection by the contractor
and owner's engineer is required to be performed to verify the depth and
diameter of the hole, and the verticality of the hole.
e) The excavated materials from the borehole should be disposed properly at
the designated area.

Rebar cage may also be transported by crane to site with limited space to
allocate fabrication yard. The fabrication shall be in accordance to
approved drawings for construction.

b) The rebar cages shall be rigid enough to prevent deformation during lifting
by placing stiffeners within the cage. Lifting point of sling belt shall be
reinforced with additional tie rods prior to installation of shackle. This shall
identify by the rigger on where to put/hook the sling for lifting. Additional
binding string installation if required.

c) Fabricated retjar spacers shall be welded on to the cage to provide minimum

cover and also to act as centralizers.

d) Completed cages shall be inspected by a Site Engineer and QC team prior

to installation. In case of inspection for Lifting point, a Rebar Cage Lifting
Point Checklist shall be provided to Site Engineer, QC Team and Site
Supervisor.

crane of sufficient capacity with the use of appropriate lifting gears. The lifting
points shall be reinforced with additional tie rods prior to installation of shackle.

f) Movable Scaffolding to be install around the Bore Hole pile prior to proceed
the inserting of rebar cage. The rebar cage shall be inserted slowly into the
borehole in order to avoid damage to the spacers and lowered down until
the design elevation of top rebar is met, if necessary chain block to casing
top shall be used to secure the correct rebar cage elevation. Inspection of
inserted rebar cage to be conducted as per ITP plan.

In case the rebar cage is divided into two segments due to the extensive
length. The bottom segment of the rebar cage shall be left to extended out
of the casing and suspended by crossing two re-bars across the reinforced
section then the top segment shall be inserted on to the bottom segment to
be joint together by reinforcing with splicing the main bars with tie rod, once
the two segments are securely joint together then the rebar cage set shall
be lowered down to its design elevation into the borehole.

5.4 PILE INTEGRITY TEST

5.4.1 Low Strain Integrity Test

A. Introduction

This method of testing covers the procedure of testing the integrity of the piles
against cracks, voids, portion of low quality of concrete, bulging and necking. The
TDR-2 pile Integrity tester has a dual purpose: To estimate the length and general
dimensions of the pile using an echo testing technique complying with ASTMD 5882-
96(1). (Pile Integrity Test shall be performed in all 14 Bore Pile).

a) To check for the presence of defects within the pile by assessing its
characteristic mobility changes in mobility within the body of the pile are
identified by observation of resonating peaks (standing waves). These
peaks are determined by the natural vibrational frequency of the pile.
b) Increases/ decrease in pile cross section (bulging or necking)
c) Cracking
d) Voids
e) Zones of weak, low density or otherwise poor quality concrete.

B. Test Apparatus

a. Pile Integrity Tester Collector: Manufactured by Pile Dynamics

C. Test Procedure

a. Preparation of Pile Head

The pile head should be thoroughly cleaned and all loose debris removed by
blowing compressed air across its surface. Two flat areas of surface (scab bled
flat if necessary) are selected; one towards the outer edge of the pile head to
locate the geophone; the other close to the central axis of the pile to receive
impact from the instrumented hammer. The surface area selected for impact
should be located so that the hammer travel is at least 600 mm before contact
with the concrete. Contact between geophone and concrete surface is ensured
using heavy grease or other suitable transmission medium for the input and
reflected signals.

b. Testing Procedure

After surface and equipment preparation, the following procedure is followed:

A rubber tip Is fitted to the Instrumented hammer to prevent surface

damage to the concrete during Impact:
The system's electronic gain Is set automatically by striking the pile
head four times and the data stored using a file reference relevant to
the site and specific pile tested.
The force / frequency spectrum obtained Is checked visually In the
data acquisition unit this should exhibit a range of frequencies up to
around 1000-1200 Hz when this Is not achieved, and a higher
frequency band Is required, an aluminum tip may be substituted for
the rubber one. A typical frequency spectrum deriving from a rubber-
tipped hammer.

Viewing the mobility trace in the data assessment of mobility data: This
may be the mobility/frequency spectrum for individual hammer blows
or the mean performance derived from four blows. Examination of the
peaks present on the mobility trace enables the experienced operator
to make an initial interpretation of pile characteristics. Where potential
anomalies are detected, the tests are repeated and referenced as
suspect and subject to further analysis:
Viewing the velocity trace in the data acquisition unit allows preliminary
field assessment of pile length.
