Virtual Job Shadow

Matt Bowes
The 3 careers

The three jobs that I picked were programmer, teacher, and a civil engineer. I
decided to learn more about these professions for multiple reasons. First off
my dad is a programmer and my uncle is a civil engineer. I decided to learn
more about teaching because I like helping out with little kids, and it may be fun
to teach.
Programmer

- The video showed that programmer’s need to have good problem solving
instincts, and they need to be very creative.
- Most programmer’s go to a typical 4 year college
- A stereotype of programmer’s that I thought was true, is that they are very
isolated and work by themselves, which turns out to not be true
Teacher

- The video showed that in order to be a teacher you need to be somewhat

organized, and the most obvious one is that you have to be good with kids.
- Just like the other job’s, you need a 4 year education.
- Teaching can be extremely fun at some points, and then frustrating
depending on what your students are like.
Civil Engineer

- The video showed that civil engineers need to have good decision making,
and they need to have good problem solving
- You must have a 4 year college education for this job
- Civil engineering can be extremely fun, but at the same time stressful. After
all, you are making important bridges, roads, and other things of that sort.
Conclusion

I feel that all of these careers could potentially be my career in the future. Right
now I feel like I want to do something along the lines of business, but who
knows what may happen in the future. If I had to pick one career to pursue, I
would probably decide to become a Civil Engineer.
