El s-ar fi casatorit cu ea daca ea l-ar fi iubit cu adevarat.

They would have been together if he he had opened up to her.


Ei ar fi fost împreună (dar nu sunt) dacă el și-ar fi deschis sufletul în fața ei.
(dar el nu a făcut asta)

Nota : Subordonata temporala introdusa prin when, as soon as etc. se construieste la


fel ca subordonata conditionala de tip 1.

I will call you when I find the book. (nu se foloseste viitorul dupa when in temporala,
ci prezentul).

Never use WILL in the 1st conditional clause unless it is a modal verb expressing
willingness (voința, disponibilitatea, vrerea).

They will thank me later if I will ( want to) tell them the secret.

Never use WOULD in the 2nd type of conditional unless it is a modal verb expressing
willingness.

I would enter the building if this door would open. (as if the door had a will of its
own)

There is a zero type of conditionals, the one illustrating facts, truths, things that are
quite obvious and don’t require proof to be accepted by the general public.

If clause – present simple

You feel exhausted [if] you don’t get enough sleep.


You get hungry if you don’t eat.

You don’t have many friends if you are not an open- hearted person.
