Motivation letter for master in Econometrics and operations research:

Dear Madam or Sir,

I am writing to apply for admission to your master's program in econometrics and

operations research. Since I came to the master's open day in VU, I found out that
this program is my goal.

I have made a lot of preparation for it when I studied it at the university in Aleppo
and at the first year in master at Damascus university in Syria.

I graduated with a bachelor of economics from Aleppo university in Syria, and I

studied the first year statistics master at Damascus university in Syria, but I didn't
complete my master.

During my degree , I was very active in many facets of university life, and I achieved a
very high degree in financial mathematics, and a good degree in administrative
mathematics, statistics and operations research. In addition I have studied
econometrics and probabilities during the first year in master. Moreover my
experience as an accountant and a mathematics teacher, I am certain that the
knowledge and skills learnt from my professional experience, university, and
extracurricular activities would make me a valuable addition to the masters of
econometrics and operations research program offered at VU, and I believe that, with
a master's degree from VU, I can achieve a higher success.

By reading the course curriculum available online, I have found that the subject
material covered will best suit my future goals and during my visiting to the open
day of master, I have found that the VU offers me an opportunity to develop my
quantitative skills for use in finance, marketing, economics and business. Moreover,
the program in this university will give me the exposure to know cultures, believes
and thoughts of others nations and nationalities who are participating in the
program. In addition to this I will get the better chance to share experiences with my
colleagues in the study program. Hence I will broaden my personal understanding
and knowledge in relation to the cultures, believes and thoughts of different nations
and nationalities.

I believe the Econometrics and Operations research program of VU is perfect for me

to become the expert on analyzing and designing financial products. Besides, the
curriculum is quite parallel to my ambitions as I want to improve myself in explore
and master the active research field of econometrics. More exciting, VU offers an
international learning environment where I can gain the advantage to learn to
cooperate with people from different backgrounds.

I will be familiar to the modern technologies, methods and knowledge of

Econometrics and Operations research, so that I become the one who specialized in
this, moreover my study in VU will enrich me with the modern ways of research
technologies. Hence I will get the better chance to contribute my share to alleviate
my countries problem as a professional through the specializations of this program.
Finally I will get the best chance in the entire my life and transfer my knowledge to

With this letter I wish hereby to apply and state my motivation for entrance to the Master program in
Economics at the University of VU for the 2018/2019 academic year.

I appreciate this opportunity to introduce myself at your University and I perceive it as a perfect
opportunity to support my application for the Master program in Economics offered by your
University. With my educational background and working experience, I strongly believe that I am
suitable candidate for the programme. I have chosen this University as my first choice because of
valuable scholarly resources and well-known reputation of the highly qualified education of the
University of VU.

I graduated with a bachelor of economics from Aleppo university in Syria, and I studied the first year

administrative mathematics, statistics, microeconomics and macroeconomics. In addition I have
studied Econometrics, Probabilities, Advanced Statistics, Algorithms, Methodology of Scientific
Research, Operations Research, Mathematical Modelling and Advanced Economic Analysis during the
first year in master. Through the program, I not only made a systematic study of principle of
economics, but also learnt the economical analytical methods to public policy, such as
macroeconomic policies directed at aggregate growth and employment. Since then, I found my
passion on economics, and I set my profession goal being an economic adviser of policy and
contributing to improve the lives of ordinary people.

After I read carefully the curriculum and the course requirements, I believe that it perfectly matches
my research interests and profile. Thanks to the University website, I gained useful information about
the University campus and the student life. Bearing in mind the previous I believe I can fit perfectly
achieving ideal academic results.

As I understand, this programme is very competitive, attracting highly motivated students, but I am
convinced that my good record at the University and professional experience give me a strong
