Chapter 1

Introduction
Today Businesses are retiring their traditional manual recording books and opting for state-of-
the-art Points of Sale systems that utilize the latest technology. Because Technology today evolves
in fast-changing phase; technology now are used in many ways to aid users and give edge control to
its perspective fields, in business field an Automated Point of Sale inventory has been
created[CITATION its19 \l 13321 ].
Points of Sales is a single application that provides personalize access of business process and
such more. Point of Sale is an electronic system designed to help business maintain and analyse
inventory and transaction data on a continuous basis, but Point of Sale refers to the place where
transaction occurs in exchange for good and services[CITATION its19 \l 13321 ].
Inventory system is a specific implementation of an inventory service and its used to plan and
track inventory balances and activities. Inventory is basically the total amount number of stocks and
records of supply or materials of store and other business[CITATION its19 \l 13321 ].
The retail industry is one of the industries that is growing in fast pace where the number of
retail business keep on increasing from time to time in order to meet the demand from consumers of
specified areas. There are different types of retail shops available for consumer to choose ranging
from hypermarket to mini market according to their convenience. Most of the shops can be found in
residential areas, streets, or in a shopping mall. Basically, retail store sells wide range of goods and
services from wholesaler or supplier to the end-user. Thus, the nature of retail business required a
good management of inventory level in order to meet the demand of the customers[ CITATION RAH13
\l 13321 ].

The traditional way retailer keeps their sales and inventory details is in spreadsheets which are
not effective anymore when the size of the shop gets bigger. This is because more items will be
made available in a larger quantity, thus tracking the sales made with inventory level in the shop
would be complicated and time consuming for the retailer. Besides, the situation gets worst when
the retailer does not have proper method to determine items purchased by their customers [ CITATION
RAH13 \l 13321 ].

Thus, this project will provide solution for retailers that are still using traditional way in keeping
their inventory data like ‘Hardware Store’ in Iligan City by creating inventory system. Sales and
Inventory Management System is a computer- based system that provides the shop structure for
maintaining and controlling goods to be stocked. The approach of Sales and Inventory Management
System is commonly used to avoid product overstock or outrages by integrating daily ‘Point of
Sales’ with store’s inventory level[ CITATION RAH13 \l 13321 ].
Estractura design and services is situated at Iligan City. They offered their customer a good
quality of furniture in low price. Their customer has many different ways to purchase a product
such as direct transaction by walking in Estractura Design and Services or through telephone by
contacting their firm.
In business like Estractura Design and Services sales and Inventory system play an important
role. It is used to track all the transaction made by the business and responsible for monitoring the
 items supplies. All the business transaction must be properly recorded and must be fully secured by
password. A computerized system the best and most innovative answer for their needs.
The problem is that manual Recording sale system is so outdated that making a transaction cost
you much not only time effort but also money. In Manual system management can be time
management can time-consuming that the customers will be waiting impatiently in queues that turn
around the corner while the cashiers enter the details of each purchase manually and for some, a
manual form of nightmare[CITATION its19 \l 13321 ].
In manual system you will easily losses your record book and make mistake while inserting
transaction information what you already write stay there. That will cause major confusion when
tracking records and history is also in manual you have to go physically to the storage room to
know how much you still have in stock for specific item or product[CITATION its19 \l 13321 ].
With an automated Point of Sale inventory system you will have accurate sales and purchase
orders control, in automated Point of Sale inventory system, you will can also perform inventory
occurs, Point of Sale inventory will allow you to customize those reports so you can see exactly
what you need[CITATION its19 \l 13321 ].
The automated Point of Sale inventory system are way faster than a manual recording of sales.
Everything from reading the product and making transaction will save you time, with an automated
POS inventory System you will work much faster. Thus, making the customer and workers of
course happier[CITATION its19 \l 13321 ].
1.1 Project Context
This capstone project is entitled “Imposed - Inventory Management System and point of sale for
Estractura design and services” is a web-base project to manage the goods, transaction and the sales of
Estractura Design and services imposed provides features for viewing sales daily and what item has a
lock of stock.
This project will be implemented in Estractura Design and Services located in Iligan City, with the
help of software engineering techniques to come up with the software design. To help the said
company to have an agile transaction.
1.2 Purpose and Description
This proposed system entitled “Imposed - Inventory Management System and point of sale for
Estractura design and services” is intended to list all the good available in the company and as well as
to record daily sales.
The purpose of the Point of Sales and Inventory system is to serve customers efficiently. This study
aims to help the staff/employees of Estractura design and services to make their work faster by using
the system where they can monitor the remaining products in the records where they can see in the
database. The system will provide a good service to the company like better transaction process that
brings bigger profit.
This project aims to designs a Computerized Inventory Management System and point of sale to
ascertain stock level of a hardware, keep status and updates of transactions, thereby helping managerial
decisions, progress level and stock taking.
1.3 Objective
The main objective of this project is to improve the manual system of Estractura Design and
Services in checking and adding the stock from the supplier. The new system can fix the problem in
managing records for easier monitoring and tracking and help the workers to have a faster way of
recording details of each transaction.
1. To design fast inventory management system and point of sale.
2. To easily manipulate the transaction.
3. To design a computerized inventory management system and point of sale that solves the
problem inherent in the manual system with the use of XAMPP MySql and Microsoft Visual
Studio.
4. To implement the supply products data on the computerized inventory management system and
point of sale to ensure its functionality.
1.4 Scope and Limitation
This project is focused on inventory system and sales of Estractura design and services. The
store is located at Iligan City. Along the process, the sales incurred by the said establishment will be
updated automatically during every transaction. The transaction and recording process will be made
accurate, fast and reliable due to the reduction of human error. The system will also provide
computerized searching of inquired products; it will generate accurate records in the inventory, and it
will also provide system security to protect the business in the records.
This study does not include the following features: the use of barcode scanner technology,
payroll for the establishment employees. It does not support the online transaction and accepts payment
through checks.

Chapter 2
Review of Related Literature and System
This section deals with the publication and investigation about the related theories and related
system. By the use of this study the researchers can easily understand other system and develop more
advance and effective and efficient system for inventory system and point of sale.
2.1 Review of Related Theories
 2.1.1 Inventory
According to M. O Yinyeh, S. Alhassan The implementation of an inventory control solution
can help to simplify work processes within an organization, leading to improved efficiency and
productivity. Without an inventory management system, staff may not be operating efficiently. The
way information passes from one employee to another wastes valuable time, and leaves room for
mistakes to occur in stocking[ CITATION MOY13 \l 13321 ].
The Inventory System should be integrated within the everyday functions performed by
personnel associated with entering and maintaining asset information. The system will reduce the
effort devoted to asset management, while supplying many personnel with the information they need to
perform their functional responsibilities[ CITATION Bro12 \l 13321 ].
