Madam/Sir:

Greetings with peace and love!

I am writing this letter to request your good office to excuse John Alexis S. Dela Cruz, 12- ABM because he will
represent the school in a Division Contest (Dagliang Talumpati) that will be held in San Fernando Elementary School,
Nov. 13. I understand that he has a prior commitment in your company as a trainee, but he must be the participant in
the said event because he is the Champion in their classroom-based Buwan ng Wika Celebration. In exchange for his
absence today, Alexis will be rendering his service to your office this Saturday.

The understanding and consideration that you will extend will contribute greatly to the success of this endeavor.

Thank you very much.

Respectfully yours,

Post Training Report on the Campus Journalism Seminar- Workshop

The opening program is formally started with a prayer and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem

which were led and conducted by selected students. After that, the participants were encouraged to do Zumba as a

form of exercise for them before the training proper. Then, Mrs. Ma. Emelyn G. Cunanan, school paper adviser of the

elementary department gave the opening remarks and Mrs. Danica D. Guevarra formally introduced the resource

speaker, Mr. Jonel A. Velasquez. He started his discussion on Feature Writing/ PAgsulat ng Lathalain in which he

enumerated the ingredients of an excellent feature article: 25% figurative language, 25% facts and statistics, 25%

quotes/ direct statements and 25% anecdotes.

Secondly, he tackled Editorial cartooning/ Pagguhit ng Kartoon pang Editoryal. He also gave tips on the said

topic by saying the best output contains 50% good drawing and 50% brilliant concept.

Editorial writing/ Pag sulat ng pangulong tudling was the third topic which was discussed. In his discussion,

he even administed a check up test so that he could gauge the knowledge of students when it comes to current events.

An acronym to be followed in writing an editorial was also discussed so that the campus journalists will be guided

accordingly. This is the SPECS: State the problem, Position on the problem, Evidence to support the position,

Conclusion, Solutions.

The fourth topic that Sir Jonel discussed was the News Writing/Pagsulat ng balita. In this part, he talked about

the qualities of a good news writing and the characteristics that a good news writer must possess. He also gave them

an activity on writing a sample lead based on the event which was taking place. Then in the afternoon, proofreading

and sports writing were given emphasis. Most students got interested in CRHW because it was their first time to have

a seminar about the said category.

The training was concluded with the awarding of the certificate to the resource speaker and taking of pictures.

Though, it was Saturday and the talk ended at 4:00 in the afternoon, the campus journalists and the coaches did

appreciate the talk of Mr. Velasquez for it was jam-packed with fresh and meaningful information.
