1.0 Introduction

The main aim of the report is to highlight the personality aspects of my behavior and

evaluate the perceptions of others about my persona and its fit with the working culture of Axiata

group. The personality tests are the assessment tools used by the individuals or organization to

unearth the traits and behavioral patterns that are generally hidden or not aware of. The

evaluation tools are used for self-reflection and aid in identifying necessary skills for particular

job specifications, thereby increasing the chance of fit in the organization. The self-evaluation

tools are essential to comprehend different personalities of the employee and consequently

enhancing the company’s productivity (Perreault, Mask, Morgan & Blanchard, 2014). Three

types of tests conducted on self to understand different aspects of my personality in the study

includes Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator test, Big Five personality test and the Global

Emotional Intelligence Test – GEIT.

2.2 The Global Emotional Intelligence Test - GEIT

Perreault, Mask, Morgan & Blanchard (2014) opined that the Global Emotional

Intelligence Test – GEIT is designed on the four quadrants of emotional intelligence mapping

framework postulated by Daniel Goleman. The techniques are used for understanding and

monitoring personal emotions in various situations. A set of forty queries are used to analyze

various aspects of emotional stability in the individuals.

The Global Emotional Intelligence Test – GEIT was taken to comprehend and map my

emotional intelligence in different situations. The result has been depicted in the above figure.

The outcome of the evaluation revealed that I scored fairly well in the aspect of self-

management, which implies that I have better self-control that monitors my impulsive behaviour.

Besides, I am honest, adaptable with the changing situations and take initiative to grab an

opportunity. Social awareness illustrates about empathy, organizational awareness and service

orientation where I scored 7, which indicated that I go according to the current situation of the

company and concerned about the emotions of other individuals. The score of 7 in relationship

management implies that I can handle the customers quite well, leading to organizational

success. However, I scored less that is 6 in self-awareness aspect, thereby indicating that it is

area of improvement for me.

2.3 Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator test

According to the views of Kim & Han (2014), Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator

is an assessment tool used for analyzing strengths, weakness, personality type and preferences of

an individual.

6|Page
The Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator results highlighted that I possess ENTJ

character. According to the outcome of the test, I am greatly motivated to search for new and

innovative solutions for challenges at work and curious to understand the principles and systems

surrounding me. Furthermore, the results revealed that I am an innovator, who is inventive,

greatly imaginative, analytical and logical while taking decisions. Emotional and sentiments do

not affect my decision making capabilities, and I am adaptable to the changing demands of the

corporate.

2.4 Big Five personality test

Leutner, Ahmetoglu, Akhtar & Chamorro-Premuzic (2014) stated that Big Five

personality test classifies our behaviour and personality based on five major factor, viz.,

openness, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism and conscientiousness. It helps in

highlighting the fact that how an individual behaves and how it is related to the personality of the

person.

The results of Big Five personality test illustrated that I have scored less in openness,

thereby indicating I am straightforward thinker and do not consider unrealistic business ideas,

subsequently marked as traditional by the managers and HR department of Axiata group. The

evaluation also demonstrated that I have greater score in conscientiousness that I am ambitious

and determined to attain my goals. It reveals I am hard working, reliable and overtly organised.

The test further highlighted that I am highly extraverted and can easily mix with different people.

As I am less agreeable, it implied that I am more competitive and argumentative. Low necrotic

score portrayed that I can withstand tension, anxiety and stressful situations.

2.5 Evaluation and comparison between perception of others and self-evaluation tests

The HR, floor manager and the senior manager stated that I am friendly, systematic,

orderly and responsible at work. The results of the three tests highlighted the same personality

traits in me. The office people considered me traditional and conservative as I followed the

protocols strictly and do not indulge in taking different unrealistic business routes for any

situation. However, the test result revealed that though I follow the traditional method while

conducting business but I am an innovator and extensively creative at work. The revelations of

my seniors at Axiata group aligns according to the test result with minor deflection in my

personality. I am ambitious and thereby being considered more competitive and less cooperative

in nature by the office employees. The test outcome highlighted that I am decently concerned

about other’s feeling and very friendly with individuals, which is giving me competitive edge in

telecom sector.

2.6 SWOT Analysis

Gürel & Tat (2017) stated that SWOT analysis is the assessment tool that reveals the

strengths and weakness of an individual and thereby highlighting the person’s upcoming scopes

of development or dangers.

Strength Weakness
 Friendly in nature  competitive
 Dependable at work.  less openness for experimenting with
 hard working unrealistic ideas
 overtly organized  conservative
 highly extraverted  argumentative

3.0 Reflection on Feedback

According to the views of Haines III & St-Onge (2012), feedback consists of perception

and criticism about an individual or product, service or anything provided by the other people.

The person who provide feedback take time to analyze and evaluate a situation or an individual

in order to improve the current status of the situation. It helps in removing disparity among the

employees, performance improvement and increase in productivity. The companies are able to

identify the existing gaps in their service or offering through the feedbacks. Additionally, the

employees are able to improve their skills or qualities if the gap is mentioned in the feedback.

360 degree feedback forms collect information from all individuals related with the

specific employee, thereby providing extensive amount of information about various dimensions

of the person. For my evaluation 360 degree appraisal was collected from my floor manager,

senior manager, HR executive and the clients. The responses from the customers to the managers

revealed that I am friendly and attentive to their needs and it was collected through filling up of

E-mailed questionnaire. HR executive conducted conversations directly with my peers and

colleagues to know about my behavior and performance. The responses helped me to identify the

weak areas of my behavior that may affect my career, thereby giving me an opportunity to

improve.

4.0 Discussion: Impact on self-development for continuous improvement

According to Simonson (2012), self-development theory propounded by Charles Cooley

defines it as an aspect of personality which is highly dependent on how the others perceive an

individual. The author states that one understands of self is obstructed or constructed on the

insight of the society and the known people. Matsuo & Nakahara (2013) opined that the PDCA

cycle framework helps an individual to improve continuously that leads to self-development. The

model explains that plan is the first step, which recognizes the need for change and let the

individual plan for it. The next step involves doing of the action that is bringing the change in

itself. Further, the person should check whether implemented alteration deliver anticipated

outcome. Finally, if the change incorporated give desired results then act accordingly and

incorporate into the life for self-development.

The SWOT analysis revealed that I am friendly and can talk with people easily, thereby

offering me immense opportunity in service sector industries. However, my greatest threat is

argumentative behavior, which will not be accepted by the top management or seniors always. I

need to work on removing my argumentative nature and plan strategically to question the

authority if something unethical is going on. Furthermore, as I avoid taking unrealistic options in

business, I need to reconsider my decision and act appropriately in front of the colleagues taking

enough time to analyze the pros and cons of the choices.

5.0 Integration of theoretical concepts in my personality

Dasgupta, Suar & Singh (2012) opines that there are numerous forms of communication

styles in working environment, few being aggressive, passive, and passive- aggressive and

assertive. Communication is an integral part of the company that ensures its failure or success, as

miscommunication may lead to workplace conflicts, tensions and disrupt productivity of the

10 | P a g e
workers. The author added that assertive form of communication encourages open and

transparent communication style, consequently taking the opinions of others along with personal

ideas. Though at times, I have been aggressive communicator as revealed in the feedback, I

should be more assertive communicator to succeed in career.

Mayer, Aquino, Greenbaum & Kuenzi (2012) explained that ethical leaders are respected

for their beliefs, honesty, integrity and values in the organization. I believe to become an ethical

leader who can motivate and guide employees without compromising on ethical grounds.

Working in a multinational gives rise to numerous workplace conflicts due to diverse cultural

background, which can be sorted by developing effective and transparent communication.

6.0 Critical assessment: whether I am fit or Misfit for Axiata Group

Evaluating the working environment of Axiata group revealed that the multinational

follows workplace ethics in order to run the company smoothly and maintain harmony and peace

of the office to increase productivity of their employees. Furthermore, the organization gives

huge importance to emotional intelligence of the workers and ensures safety and security of its

workforce. Axiata Group implements the principles of Fayol while controlling and managing its

personnel other than commanding. However, the company do not promote direct

communication, which is affecting the lower level staffs. Comparing the working scenario of

Axiata and my personality traits, I will look forward to work in the organization because of its

ethical beliefs and managing techniques. However, I need to work on my emotional intelligence

aspect and develop more of cooperating nature in order to fit in the firm.

7.0 Conclusion

The report intended to understand and evaluate my personality traits as reveled by the

floor manager, HR and senior manager of Axiata Group and compare it with the results of

Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator test, Big Five personality test and the Global Emotional

Intelligence Test – GEIT. The office people highlighted that I am very reliable and complete

tasks on time. Additionally, I am friendly, jovial, and clients are happy with my job. However,

the individuals also stated that I am overtly ambitious and competitive, which results in less of

cooperation among the teammates. The tests clarified that my personality demonstrates ENTJ

characteristics, which implies I am an innovator, rational thinker, intuitive and systematic. It also

showed that I have lower necrotic score, implying I can withstand stress and tension. At last, it

can be stated that improving certain areas of my behavior will make me fit for the organization.
