A National Hero

In the study of the life of heroes, it is important to put into mind that they are just
ordinary human beings. Heroes were not born or appeared over night but they are
products of environment which includes their society, surroundings, and the conditions
prevalent at the time.
Heroes are made because they responded to the call of the times and their
response to this call had a decisive effect on the lives of their countrymen.

Activity Check:
1.Write at least ten good moral virtues that you can reflect to yourself for your family,
country and God. Explain the meaning of each of the moral virtues.
 Respect. This means that if you accept somebody for who they are no matter
what religion or races they are in; you respect them, and you will be respected
also. This builds a strong relationship between you and the people you trust.
 Never hurt anyone. This moral value also important. It also stated in the bible
that if you are covered with bitterness, wrath and anger, and clamor, if you put it
all away, God will forgive you. Hurting anyone will not give satisfaction, it will
only create more chaos and a feeling for revenge.
 Honesty. This moral value implies virtuous trait such as truthfulness, integrity,
straightforwardness, and with the absence of lying, theft, cheating etc.
 Compassion. This is the act of understanding the suffering of others or yourself
and wanting to the something about it.
 Cooperation. This applies to all context such as school, home, etc. This means
that helping your family, friends, schoolmates, and many others without
expecting anything in return is a good moral value that everyone should have.
 Courage. This is the willingness to face challenges even if it is too difficult or
seems impossible.
 Forgiveness. This is the act of overcoming negative emotions such as vengeance
and choosing to not do anything about what happened and just forgive each
other.
 Hard Work. This is the act of exerting effort into something that you really want
to achieve. This moral value is good when you also have courage.
 Kindness. This is a behavior wherein you consider other people’s capabilities
and understands that we are all unique in our own way.
 Know your responsibilities. This moral value is also important. It means that
people should know what’s their priorities and also do their job.
2.As a college student, how can you fulfill the intent of Rizal Law to become a better
contributing citizen for your society’s prosperity.
As a college student, we are bound to have courses about Jose Rizal and that is
what Rizal Law is all about. So, for me to contribute to our society’s prosperity, I
would share the importance of studying the life or Rizal. Starting with my friends,
classmates, family, and eventually to other people in this society where we will
conduct a free seminar to give more information about Rizal to many people as we can.
I believe this will instill values on nationalism and patriotism, it also makes people
critical, analytical, and appreciative minded and develops moral character, personal
discipline, and civic conscience. These traits that people might acquire if they are
serious in learning the life of Jose Rizal will give a good fortune and successful social
status in our society.
