I. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: Work in small groups and discuss the following questions based
on your prior knowledge.
1. How would you define the term ‘culture’? Are we born with it? Why or why not?
2. Have you ever experienced a culture shock? If so, describe your experience.
3. Do you agree with the statement, “Language allows culture to exist.”? Why or why not?
4. What do you think are the values – the ideas of what is desirable in life – in Cambodian society?
5. What would be your reaction if you saw someone walking naked in the street? Cheating during
an exam? Drinking alcohol in the class room?
6. How do you think technology influences culture? Explain with examples.
7. To what extent do you think Cambodian culture has been influenced by other cultures? How
serious are these influences? How should we deal with them?
