Narrative:
Earthquake is one of the famous disasters that caused people died or injured. It
cannot be detected when and where it would be happened to anyone. This is mostly
happened in places where people are hanging around and working. Earthquake is
understood by being a natural phenomenon caused by the constant movements of the
earth’s crust plates and due to climate change too. Connectively, Marian Learning
Center and Science High School Inc. conducted the 3 rd simultaneous earthquake drill
last August 13, 2019 at 9:30 A.M (anti-Meridian). This was also affirmed by the virtue of
the Division Memorandum No. 287, series of 2019 declaring as 3 rd National
Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.
This DepEd Memorandum stated that all public and private schools and DepEd
offices in full cooperation with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
Council (NDRRMC) should undertake a Simultaneous National School-Based
Earthquake Drill.
This drill aims to share knowledge and make a preparation if ever big one will
happen. The drill started with the ceremonial pressing of the button where the pupils
from Elementary Department to Junior and Senior High School together with their
teachers and followed strictly the three important things during an earthquake. These
were the Ducking, Covering and Holding, Watching out for falling objects, and Keeping
calm and avoiding panic.
The
DRRM
Coordinator discussed the importance of Red and White flag. The 3 rd Simultaneous
Earthquake Drill was participated by students, teachers, staff and even maintenance.
The said drill was successful. Here is the breakdown for the headcount.
