Grade 11 – Vita Statistics & Probability
TOA: Performance Task Mr. Bustillo
In one group of 4 students enrolled into the General Chemistry course, each students conducts
three trials that consists a total of 3 volumes of H 2O (per student) used in the experiment to explain the
Charles’ Law. One student used 26mL for the first trial, 46mL for the second, and 44mL for the third.
Meanwhile, the second student used 55mL, 32mL, and 86mL. Additionally, another student used 20mL,
23mL, and 30mL. Lastly, the fourth student used 47mL, 23mL, and 84mL in her respective trials.
X is the random variable that shows the volumes of H 2O used in the experiments
X = { 26, 46, 44, 55, 32, 86, 20, 23, 30, 47, 23, 84 }
X P(X=x)
20 ( X = 20 ) 1/12
23 ( X = 23) 2/12 or 1/6
26 ( X = 26) 1/12
30 ( X = 30 ) 1/12
32 ( X = 32 ) 1/12
44 ( X = 44 ) 1/12
46 ( X = 46 ) 1/12
47 ( X = 47 ) 1/12
55 ( X = 55 ) 1/12
84 ( X = 84 ) 1/12
86 ( X = 86 ) 1/12
