1. Using the data in the given table below, calculate for the following:
(a) Heat capacity at constant pressure of benzene vapor at 40 0C.
(b) ΔH (kJ/mol) for benzene vapor going from 564 R to 1032 R.
(c) If the ΔH of benzene vapor at a final temperature of 330 0C is 33.86
kJ/mol, calculate for the initial temperature.

2. In an instant coffee manufacturing plant, coffee is to be dried to remove all the

moisture content. For this purpose, pre-heated air is used. Air was pre-heated
from 1200C and 101.325 kPa to 2300C and 120 kPa. The pre-heated air was then
fed to the dryer, where water is picked up from the coffee, this increases the
humidity of the entering air. The wet air leaves the dryer at 90 0C and 100 kPa
containing 0.35 kmol H2O per kmol dry air. Assuming ideal gas behavior, if the
flow rate of the wet air is 150 kmol/hr, calculate for the following:
(a) Molar flow rate of air entering the heater
(b) Change in enthalpy in the heater
(c) Heat required to raise the temperature of the steam entering the heater
