ACTIVITY 1
WARM UP
Read the following questions, answer them according to your point of view.
Go to your student’s book on page 31 and look at the picture.
1.-Where are the people?
In a stadium, in the stands.
2.-What are they doing?
Supporting your favorite team.
3.-What is happening?
There is a football match.
4.-It is said that football is the most popular sport in the world. Why do you thinks that is?
We might believe that soccer is just a game in which 22 people chase a ball, but it is much
more than that. A soccer field is the scene of individual and collective feats that dazzle us, of
hopes, expectations and pleasant and bitter surprises.
5.-Do you like to play or watch any of these sports, in case you say yes, choose one and
explain.

Basketball - football - mountain biking - pool - skateboarding - table tennis

Yes, the football.

I like it for the emotions it causes. It is a sport that requires teamwork, strategy and also
individualities. Soccer has made me laugh, scream. I like that emotion I feel when I see my
favorite team play on the court. A goal scream is magic. Soccer is a combination of love
and passion.

1.- Of the three statements, the third option, which is the bathing basket, can be considered
as a sport, since it is a combination of swimming and basketball and can be implemented as
an Olympic competition, since it makes use of both sports.
2.- pool and snooker are similar since they are a game of billiards, snooker uses 21 colored
balls while pool uses 15 colored balls that are numbered.
As for soccer and football, they can be a little different since soccer uses a spherical ball
while soccer uses an ellipsoidal ball, but there are also some similarities, in both teams they
have 2 teams of 11 players.
3.- Snookball is a hybrid sport that combines soccer with billiards. In this discipline,
billiard sticks are replaced by feet and billiard balls by balls similar to futsal balls.
