SOP (Statement of Purpose)

Considering this domain first question that comes to mind is- “What ties the well-being of workers to
diversity and inclusion?”

Brief answer to this is- Diversity and inclusion and well-being of workers was integrated in four ways:

 Inclusive workplaces boost the well-being of workers

 Strong well-being workers are more inclusive
 Successful health programs meet the particular needs of different workers
 Mental wellbeing and well-being are a diverse topic for best practice diversity and inclusion
initiatives.

Last organization which I worked for as a Software Engineer was Infosys which quotes idea of diversity
and inclusion as follows-

“If an innovation has to serve a diverse set of people, it has to come from people of diverse backgrounds.
It’s that simple. That’s why we have people from all walks of life – of different interests, genders, and
orientations from over 144 nationalities, operating out of 46 countries.”

In Infosys, Diversity and Inclusion Charter draw on the principles and is included in the first premise of
Code of Conduct and Ethics, which is ‘Respecting each other’ that eventually leads to mental wellbeing.

While working for one of the largest IT organizations of India, it has impacted me positively in many
ways. It helped me in understanding how Inclusive workplaces support professional achievement and
job satisfaction, how these workplaces support work-life balance, promoting connection with others and
thus promoting pro-social behavior which I feel is the need of current hour.

Adding to it, Companies that are providing wellness services will ensure that they are open to all
workers. Language and literacy should be addressed, including chronic conditions, illnesses and
allergies, as well the work schedules, family demands, ethnicity, history, the age and health status. The
involvement of numerous talented individuals in the creation of wellness services leads to ensuring that
all workers have equal access. Flexible, standardized services which can be customized to meet
individual requirements are best practice. When health services are not included, divisions between
different groups may be intensified. Furthermore, as organizations, through physical events that meet
the needs of individual workers, work aggressively to implement health programs, they can be used to
encourage inclusion and wellbeing by encouraging healthy relationships between various staff and
creating intergroup connections.

At workplace, job arrangements and workloads are changed to help workers who handle mental health
problems and receive medical assistance through staff assistance programmes. And in the workforce the
stereotypes of mental wellbeing were known and people may be judged, disciplined or unfairly
discriminated against. They train mental health leaders and employees and provide instruments and aid
in reducing mental health stigma at work. I also recognize the role of stress in mental wellbeing and
welfare. Also, managers research workplaces and procedures to recognize the risks of mental illness and
pass stress management skills to workers.
