CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

Research design

The study will be using the descriptive method (using

survey) which questionnaires are develop, pilot test and

distribute to respondents focusing on the 1 st year to 4th Year

students of International School of Asia and Pacific (ISAP) who

have been granted a scholarship by the said school.

A questionnaire will use in collecting the needed data and

is supplemented with observation to verify some of the written

responses to the items in the questionnaire in order to gain

valid, acceptable and adequate interpretation in the results of

the study.

Respondents and Sampling Procedure

The respondents of this study are the 1st to 4th year

students of International School of Asia and the Pacific (ISAP).

The researchers will be using stratified random sampling

technique to divide or arrange in to classes in identifying the

participants of the study. The participants are 1st year to 4th

Year students of International School of Asia and Pacific (ISAP)

who have been granted a scholarship by the said school. Table 1

below shows the respondents of the study.

The respondents of the study will be the First, Second, Third

and Fourth year student from the International School of Asia

and the Pacific (ISAP).

Locale of the Study

The study will be conducted in the City of Tabuk

specifically among the selected respondents composed of 1 st year

to 4th Year students of International School of Asia and Pacific

(ISAP).

It was limited on the profile of the respondents, the level

of awareness on the implementation Unified Student Financial

Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) , the extent

of implementation of the Unified Student Financial Assistance

System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) in International School

of Asia and the Pacific (ISAP-K); and the problems encountered

by

the respondents in the implementation of the Unified Student

Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST).

BRIEF PROFILE OF TABUK CITY

Tabuk is a component city in the lan2dlocked province

of Kalinga. It serves as the provincial capital. It is a First

Class Municipality and categorized as 5th class city with annual

income of P 56,464,499.25 (2017). The IRA of the City of Tabuk

this 2018 is P 901,239,782.

The city has a land area of 700.25 square kilometres or 270.37

square miles which constitutes 21.67% of Kalinga's total area.

Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 110,642.

This represented 52.02% of the total population of Kalinga

province, or 6.43% of the overall population of the Cordillera

Administrative Region. Based on these figures, the population

density is computed at 158 inhabitants per square kilometer or

409 inhabitants per square mile.

According to the 2015 Census, the age group with the

highest population in Tabuk is 5 individuals. Conversely, the

age group with the lowest population is 75 to 79, with 878

individuals. The population of Tabuk grew from 21,261 in 1960 to

110,642 in 2015, an increase of 89,381 people. The latest census

figures in 2015

denote a positive growth rate of 1.20%, or an increase of 6,730

people, from the previous population of 103,912 in 2010.

The city center of Tabuk is situated at approximately

17° 25' North, 121° 27' East, in the island of Luzon. Elevation

at these coordinates is estimated at 189.4 meters or 621.2 feet

above mean sea level. Based on the great-circle distance (the

shortest distance between two points over the surface of the

Earth),the cities closest to Tabuk are

Tuguegarao, Ilagan, Cauayan, Santiago, Candon, and Vigan. The

nearest municipalities

are Rizal, Pinukpuk, Quezon, Paracelis, Balbalan, and Tanudan.

Its distance from the national capital is 316.31 kilometers

(196.55 miles). The following list delineates such distance

measurements.

Data gathering tool

A Questionnaire was used by the researcher in gathering

data for the study. It was consisted of three parts: part one

(1) gather information regarding the profile of the respondents:

part two (2) ask the Level of Awareness of Respondent Extent of

Implementation of Unified Student Financial Assistance System

for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) in International School of Asia

and the Pacific (ISAP-K).

Data gathering procedure

In the process of the research, the researchers will ask

first an approval to the administration to conduct the study and

the consent of the respondents so they will not encounter

problem, pilot test and distribute to the respondents. The

researcher further will follow up the data collection process by

observing student satisfaction.

Data Analysis

In analyzing the data, the researchers used the (SPSS)

Statistical Package for Social Science) V. 11.5 for Windows. The

program was run to analyze the research objective namely, to

obtain the mean and standard deviation for the research

elements. In addition, it was also utilize to compute the

frequencies and percentages using the descriptive frequency

analysis.

Statistical Tools

The data gathered will be subject to the appropriate statistical

tools. Statistical analyses will be use is the percentage,

weighted mean and the T-test for uncorrelated means; and the

ANOVA.

Percentage. The percentage will be used in establishing the

profile of the respondents.

N = Total number of respondents

100 = constant factor

Weighted Mean (WM). This will be used to quantify objectives 1
