Activity No. 1
Interview of a Successful
Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers

A. INTRODUCTION

Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering has increased with

the dawn of century. Agriculture supply not just food but also

other materials such as alternative power supply, bio-fuels, and

organic feed stocks for secondary industries, and even medical

ingredients. Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering also aims to

improve and look beyond specific challenge on how to solve the

certain problem that our country is facing.

The group was tasked to interview three successful AB engineers

within Agusan del Norte. By this activity we are able to know and

discover the life of AB engineers. As we faced them, we saw their

smile on their faces for having stable job in their respective

agencies. Along the interview sessions, we learned a lot from

them. They showed all the challenges they overcome before they

became successful. Through their words, we are being motivated

to strive harder and

finish the ABE course because we knew there are many doors

will open for us in the future.

B. NARRATION OF EXPERIENCE

The group was tasked to interview three successful AB Engineers

or Agricultural Engineers. The interview was and should be conducted
outside the campus.
In our first day of interview, we asked permission to someone if can
we can hitch in his motorcycle. In our way to our destination, we had
to ask some people if where is Department of Agriculture is located.
When we arrived already we were greeted by the security guard and
he asked us what is our purpose. We answer him about the interview
and guided us to log in first in their log book as attendance. Then, told
us that Agricultural Engineers was located in the second floor. When
we got there, we had hesitations since they are busy. After a while, we
asked them if they are busy and told about the interview. Until an
engineer volunteer her name is Engr. Thessa Lyn Bongcawel.
After we finished our interview to her and she told us to approach
Engr. Arlie for an interview.

D. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED AND PROPOSED

SOLUTION

i. Problems Encountered
The appointed engineer wasn’t able to conduct extra time due to
a reason that he didn’t consider his life as successful already.
Time management wasn’t applied because we haven’t planned
our to do things in conducting our activity.
Miscommunication occurred due to some of the members went to
each hometown and was not able to do the remaining activity.

ii. Solutions
From above problems, teamwork was built up. Everyone cooperated
during the activity.

E. CONCLUSION/S

Life wasn’t easy. All successful Engineers encountered difficulty

before they get their license. Their success story in life inspired us to
continue in our course though we found it difficult. They taught us how
to deal our study effectively despite from every problem we may
encounter. One of the Engineer says, “Experience is the best teacher
and nothing compares to the knowledge it gave to us”, that exact
sentence inculcated in our mind that someday or in the near future
their something good to happen to those who waited and to those who
overcome challenges. In a short span of time, we’re able to know them
and we’re happy not just the memory they gave to us but also the
discoveries that help us to dig and grow deeper.

F. RECOMMENDATION/S

It is recommended in the group that each member must be

physically and mentally present. In conducting an activity like an

interview, it is a must to be prepared so that there will be no more

extra problems to mind. Also, in terms of cooperation, each member
should exert time since everyone is aiming to finish the activity.
Another thing, be prepared with needed materials, specially the
questions to be asked in your target interviewee. Lastly and most
important,do not take time for granted, when there is allotted time,
grab, every second counts.

happened to qualify the engineering course. So, I decided to take

Agricultural Engineering

Question #2

Do you have struggles during college days? What are those?

I have a lot of struggles. Actually, I have difficulties with Calculus

then got worried I failed. Then I questioned myself, “should I

continue college?”

Question #3.

From your first year up to fourth year in college, please state your

general experience/s.

So far, my whole journey in this Agricultural Engineering course

was great because my colleagues were not into competition. We

held hands to each other because we don’t want to graduate with

some of our colleagues left behind.

Agricultural Engineer?

Being an Agricultural Engineer is a big help because this job helps a

lot to conduct trainings for farmers. We were able to help them in

terms of providing new machinery for the use of their farming, but

some of the farmers disagree to this matter because if machine

power takes place, human power will be ignored in terms of labor.
