Production tube well (PTW): PTW design and Installation

determine/design the total depth of PTW which includes (1)

After being procured of pump casing, filter assembly, blind pipe,


sand cone and submersible pump, boring through mechanical
rig followed by collection of sand samples at 3.0m interval
preserved in wooden box for testing to justify the design
recommendations or if varies to re determine the depth and
level of installation of PTW. Submersible Pump before
installation being tested for Head, Discharge. Efficiency.

Gravel packing around Filter assembly as per design done after


complete installation of PTW over which clay packing up to
1.0m below EGL. A complete PTW to supply potable drinking to
ULB dwellers is being Developed and Disinfected through
surging by Air compressor (12hrs), calgon + bleaching
development in 3 stages for 108hrs, draw down test (6hrs) to
determine pumping water level, disinfection by chlorine and
recovery test for 72hrs through diesel pump to ascertain rated
discharge at the end water being collected for testing before
supply as public water.

UPVC force main installation:


Samples are being collected for testing from BUET for
Dimension test, short-term hydrostatic pressure test, Resistance
to acetone test to determine disintegration and de-lamination
and Impact test/strike test.

Tested and collected samples are being preserved in ULB’S


custody for references of PVC pipes are being received for
storage in a flexible bed and stacked up to maxm. height 1.5 m
bi-supported to restrict sliding collapse of stock so that no
scratches may occur.

Laying /installation done on even, dry, leveled flexible bed


exposing at same temperature exposure of both male and
female pipe for at least (one) hour; primer of solvent cement up
to full socket length put after acetone wash to cover with full
even layer coating of solvent cement for joining the male and
female pipe with reverse and reciprocal motion up to ¼ th of
diameter and left 3.0 minute next joining starts after 10 minutes,

embedded in 100mm sand under the force main, cover the dia.
and at the top of pipe 150mm by sand at a depth of 1.25 m
width 0.5 m. trench, drain, road, canal, ditch, river and bridge
crossing are being done with M.S./G.I. casing pipe covering the
PVC force main by filling the annular space with dry non sticky
materials, thrust block at bend of 22 ½ o or more being
constructed.

After fitting/ fixing of tee, band, dresser coupling, flanges switch


valves , s-band wash out the total installation of pipe line are
being tested for pressure testing with potable drinking water for
24 hrs with 6 bar / 9 bar pressure and disinfection done
simultaneously by 33% chlorine water being tested from
DPHE/BUET before delivering as public water.

IRP (Iron removal plant) and SWTP( surface water treatment


plant) has been planed, designed, reviewed, constructed rated
capacity 400 cum/hr at chanmuhani pourashavas and 350
cum/hr. at lama pourashava under constant supervision as per
design and BOQ.

200 km /diameter 2.2 m (double-laid) kobota cast iron pipe; (v)
main delivery pipe line 400 km (double-laid) and 2.2 m diameter
kobota cast iron pipe, 4 (four) ground water reservoir
(275m×175m×6.0m) at the four corners of Baghdad city.

Initial responsibilities: Automatic Concrete Batching Plant


construction which includes aggregate bin foundation/ cement
cielo foundation and erection, 8m high 100m long counter fort
retaining wall in/c ramp, internal road, culvert and barbed wire
fencing etc.

Responsibilities on main Tasks; (i) Layout Set up and


construction, supervision and quality control of 360nos. of BSP
VIBRO piles bored with steel casing, casting through concrete
pump pored in a bucket channeled with trireme pipe to support
pumping station of 103 nos. centrifugal pumps for delivering
potable drinking water to Baghdad city.

(ii)Construction supervision and quality control 8000nos. pre-


cast, pre stressed piles cured by steam at 650C of 72hrs
duration Executed by RAYMOND PILING CO. USA to support
6m height Ground Water Reservoir (275m×175m), supervising,
checking quality, progress monitoring of base slab, circular
column with drop panel and column capital integral flat slab.

(iii)Setting Layout 2.2m dia. Kobota cast iron pipe, laying,


construction of these delivery pipe lines followed through
dewatering by series of suction pumps drawing out the water
aided through filter pipes on continuous process till the pipe
lines become sustainable. Thrust block construction at bends,
RCC casing at level crossing and road crossing also
constructed to minimize the surcharge/ superimposed load to
make the force main durable.

(iv) Intake Reservoir Activities (Tarmia); The raw water quality


of the river Tigris, not up to the mark unlike natural surface
water; that was polluted by the waste of synthetic detergent
washing products & paper mills. The waste NTA (nitro latria

acetic acid) a chelating agent caused the solubility of the heavy


metals iron of water and caused serious interference of raw
treatments. To improve the raw water quality in the intake
reservoir complex, the measures taken:
 Mixed-media filtration continued with alum or polymer as a
filter aid.
 Proper instantaneous and through mixing of chlorine and the
water being treated to provide better disinfections.
 Used granular activated carbon for removal of trace organic
compounds and for complete color removal and test and
odor control.
 Practical application of shallow depth sedimentation (tube
settling).
 Used polymers to improve coagulation, flocculation and
settling.
 Provide methods of recycling and satisfactory disposal for
recycling and satisfactory disposal of sludge’s.
 Used the method continuous monitoring and controlling
water treatment process.

To ensure the same quality of finished water and tap water


according to USA Public Water Act 1962 standards, sample
collected @ 100 per month for 100,000 users at the tap point for
bacteriological examination and continuously monitored the
corrosion prevention of huge pipe line by testing the finished
public water regularly.
