Chapter 1 Preliminary site study

1.1 Location

The site under reference is located in Vadodara district of Gujarat state of India. The site
shares close proximity to Vadodara and Bharuch city. Vadodara, formerly known as
Baroda, is the third largest and most populated city in the Indian State of Gujarat, after
Ahmedabad and Surat. Bharuch is located in the southern part of Gujarat, near the Gulf
of Khambhat in Arabian sea. The district has 8 talukas, of which the major ones are
Bharuch (district headquarter), Ankleshwar, Valia, Jhagadia and Jambusar.

1.2 Site connectivity

The images below demonstrate Nana Fofaliya village, their connections with Vadodara and
Bharuch city.
Vadodara is one of the main cities of Gujarat which is a
major junction for all the three modes of public transport i.e.,
road, rail and air. Site is located 27 kms from Vadodara
railway station. Bharuch town bus stand is 57 kms from site,
which is also one of the junctions connecting site to north
east Gujarat. Bharuch being the second major city close to
the site also has road and rail network accessible to site.
