CHAPTER I

1. INTRODUCTION

Name of The School : SMP SWASTA AL-FATTAH MEDAN

Address : Jln. Cemara N0. 172 Pulo Brayan Darat II, Kec. Medan Timur, Kota
Medan, Sumatera Utara

Name of Teacher : Siti Arifatul Ilahiyah S.Pd

Subject : English

The reason why I choose this school was accredited A in college and B in school, and to
add the experience and knowledge in another school when do the observation.

The reason why I choose because she is one of the English teacher in Darul Azhar
Modern Especially for Senior High School and she is a competent and professional teacher. He
also evaluate the students by the test. And the last reason is he recommended by the head master
in that school.

CHAPTER II

2. INSTRUMENTS OF EVALUATION
2.1. Monthly Test 1
Based on this monthly test and analysis of observer that the teacher makes the test
based on the students guidebook, and this school still use K13 not KTSP for their curriculum
and syllabus. So that this test relevant with the curriculum that use in this school. This
evaluation test give to IX SMP AL-FATTAH MEDAN

And when some of the students doesn’t pass the test that had given by the teacher, the
teacher make the second test (remedial) for them to increase their value in the test. In this
case of evaluation that the teacher makes some tests to make the value of the student better
than before.

Beside this written test the teacher also do the oral test to evaluate and to know how far
the student ability in mastering in English. Based on the interview with the teacher in SMP
AL-FATTAH MEDAN , the teacher also know the competence and the capability of the
students, because this teacher not only evaluate the students by written and orally test, but
also from their character, attitude of the students.

And from the statement above that the evaluation can’t to do only by the written test
(multiple choice), because to know the skills of listening and speaking skill the students can’t
from the written test, its must from the oral test or another test that can help the teacher the
speaking and listening skill of the students. As we know the written test good for reading and
writing skills, that why this test useful to know the capability of students in reading and
writing skills. So the teacher should make the oral and written test in evaluating the ability,
capability, and knowledge of the students about English.
2.2 Monthly Test 2
So from the test the students have to do is understand the contents of the material in the
book then they work on the problem where the questions are in the form of a picture then
they make an opinion of the picture while still using the word "wish and hope"

3. CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION


3.1. Conclusion

From the instruments of evaluation above, the observer can conclude that the teacher
should give the test to their students based on their guidebook or from what had teacher
explained to students. Why? Because to make the students easy to answer or do the test.

And when the student doesn’t pass the test the teacher should give them the second test
or remedial to increase their value, with give them different test than before, because if
the teacher give the same test o course the student have know the answer from that
questions.

3.2. Suggestion

The suggestion for the teacher based on this observation, the teacher must give the
evaluation test that based on students guidebook and give the student second chance
when they doesn’t pass the test, to make them more spirit in study and to increase their
value.
