Term: Rainwater Harvesting

First Paragraph:

Rainwater Harvesting pertains to the process of collecting rainfalls to be stored in order

to be used for other purposes. Basically, in rainwater harvesting, rain falling on the roofs will be

collected and stored in rainwater bins or tanks. Storage bins or tanks will be connected to the

gutters or roofs of the structure so that the rain that will fall on the surfaces of the latter will

directly flow through the former. The water that will be harvested can be used for other purposes,

commercial, industrial or household purposes. Since water is one of the essential needs of the

people, it is important for us to better understand processes that will help us to maximize these

resources. It is also possible that resources such as water will be limited in the future. For this

reason, it is necessary for us to formulate and initiate other means of producing and utilizing

these resources.
Second Paragraph:

Water harvesting is one of the alternatives that can be employed in order to resolve the

issues related to scarcity of water resources. In rainwater harvesting, rainfall will be considered

as a renewable resources. Since rainwater harvesting only requires minimal amount of

investment, this process is applied on most of the poor countries. Since water is one of the basic

necessities in the world, rainwater harvesting is a cheaper method of utilizing natural resources

to satisfy our needs and demands. According to Mihelcic (2017), it is important to be aware of

the processes involved in rainwater harvesting in order to mitigate the health risks of utilizing

rainwater.

Third Paragraph:

The scarcity of natural resources like water can be resolved through rainwater harvesting.

Furthermore, rainwater harvesting will lessen the dependence of communities and individuals on

commercial and public water providers. Rainwater harvesting will also help in lessening the

demand for water resources on dams. If the employment of rainwater harvesting will be

developed, it is possible that the necessity to create new dams will be lessened. The utilization of

rainwater for household purposes will also help in saving money since water bill will be lower.

This process is also instrumental so that we can help in conserving natural resources such as

water. Furthermore, if will opt to develop rainwater harvesting system, we will not be reliant on

companies manufacturing and distributing water products such as bottled water. It will also help

the environment since industrial activities harm the ecology. Even if we are living in a wealthy

nation, we should start considering this method so that will can enjoy the advantages and benefits

of rainwater harvesting.
