JOB DESCRIPTION

Installation, repairing and testing of HV, LV electrical equipment's. This includes motors,
breakers, MCC generator and Battery in oil and gas

Installation of cable laying, jointing, glanding and Termination.

Maintenance of Transformers up to 600 kVA.

Maintenance of AC and DC Motors up to 33KV.

Maintenance of UPS up to 60 kVA in oil and gas

Has responsibility for the Installation of HV & LV electrical equipment's.

Installation of switchboards, Distribution Boards, Motor control center and Generators.
LT Power & Control cable laying on underground, tray and trunking in oil and gas
LT Power & Control Cable Jointing & Termination in oil and gas
Installation of Cable tray, Trunking and Conduit in oil and gas Testing of Power and
Control cables using Megger.

Operation & Maintenance

Has responsibility for the operation, maintenance and repair of the system, implements and
monitors technical procedures and reporting, work management and execution in oil and
gas
Performs routine, preventive and breakdown maintenance on all above Electrical
equipments ( Transformers up to 600kVA and Motors up to 33KV and plant electrical
Equipments in oil and gas).
 Perform battery charging (lead acid & alkaline batteries) like electrolyte preparation filling
up and putting charging etc.
Weekly report, Monthly running hours report in oil and gas
Prepares and records all details of equipment maintenance, such as work carried out time
involved etc. in oil and gas
Keeps a continuous record, reports defects as they arise and uses these records to prepare
for refits and maintenance periods by ensuring that spare parts, materials, etc are available
when required in oil and gas
Complies with safety conditions and practice on all equipments on which he is working
and observes the work permit regulations.

Maintenance of motor:

When on electric motor has been properly installed it requires little attention later on to
keep it working properly. If the motor is kept clean and dry and properly lubricated it will give
trouble free service for a long time.

The following are the maintenance works to be carried out in a Motor

Check all high speed bearings and renew if necessary

Blow out all motor windings thoroughly with clean dry air
Check insulations resistance to earth between phases of motor windings, control gear
and wiring in oil and gas
Clean and Varnish dirty and oily windings in oil and gas
Renew switch and fuse contacts if necessary in oil and gas
Check the resistance of earth connections
Check the air gap and ensure that the rotor does not rub against the stator core
Renew oil in starters subjected to damp or corrosive elements in oil and gas
Ensure that the ball or roller bearings have adequate lubricating grease in oil and gas

Maintenance of Transformer:

Mostly troubles in distribution transformer will occur in the HV winding, because it is

made up of very thin conductor of large number of turns and the voltage is also high. The fault
may be either a short circuit between HV turns or a cut in the HV winding .To find out the troubles
in the HV winding continuity or short circuit tests are carried out

The following electrical tests are normally carried in the transformer

Using transformer oil tester the BDV of the oil should be tested
Acidity Test should be conducted
Insulation resistance of winding must be ascertained
Transformer is dried out to improve the IR value
