1. Explain in your own words the three outstanding characteristics of outcome-based education.

Answer:

1. It is student-centered. Because in my own understanding in talks about that a student is on the verge
of self-learning centered or the student is in the center of attention in which the student are likely
learning to their own sake or individual learning to enhance their learning outcomes. Furthermore it
refers to a wide variety of educational programs, learning experiences, instructional approaches, and
academic-support strategies that are intended to address the distinct learning needs, interests,
aspirations, or cultural backgrounds of individual students and groups of students. It is also broadly
encompasses methods of teaching that shift the focus of instruction from the teacher to the student. It
puts students' interests first, acknowledging student voice as central to the learning experience. In a
student-centered learning space, students choose what they will learn, how they will pace their learning,
and how they will assess their own learning.

2. It is faculty-driven. Because in my own understanding the faculty driven it refers about a member of
an institution or staff in the school and organization which the faculties collaborate one another by
doing their programs and responsibility as assessing and teaching the students in way of giving
participations and motivating them to reach a high quality of education by the help of instructors in
facilitating the students. It also encourages faculty members where they are committed to teaching and
serving students; where enthusiasm and morale are high; and where faculty professionalism and
dedication find full expression, working in harmony with students, staff, and administration to fulfill the
mission of attaining the best education to the students.

3. It is meaningful. Because in my understanding the topic of outcome-based education usually provides

the essential concept guide to the student and teacher for further enhancing and improving the quality
of education in a form of instructions and assessment activities that would be facilitated by the teacher.
Also, it is meaningful because it gives us knowledge of the world around us and changes it into
something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have
points of view on things in life. People debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing
that gives knowledge.

2. Write a short description of immediate and deferred outcomes and give 2 to 3 examples. Make your
own example do not use what has been given in the learning kit.

Intervention:

In one paragraph, write a summary about the shift of educational content to learning outcomes.

I have learned that the Shift of Educational content to learning outcomes, it possess an educative
process which happens between the teacher and the student. Which is why education is originated from
the root word educare or educere which meant “to draw out”. However it already exist in centuries
where the belief of education is in the state of pouring in. The process in which the teacher is the source
of knowledge or the fountain of knowledge to the students because in this times the students are just
only a passive recipient or the receiver of knowledge from the teacher. It includes that in the focus of
instructions of content and the subject matter designating the of a set of subjects to take and when the
course is completed it would pronounce that the student is highly educated well. By the guides and
provision from the teacher they would surely lead the desired knowledge, skills and would possess a
great attribute in passing the course. In these nowadays, the advent of technology has a huge impact in
changing the community or through globally to the people, teacher, students, education, nationally and
globally. With the knowledge of the global technology the teacher ceased to be the fountain of
knowledge because the student is surrounded with the accessible information to technologies and to
world wide web in broadening their facts and knowledge to the sources they get easily. For now on the
teacher has become a facilator of knowledge that assist to students that would develop the skills in
organization, interpretation of data and validating the facts of information through learning outcomes.
