(Excerpts from the BS Ceramic Engineering Program Performance Profile on VMGOs in 2016)

The OBE Framework


The OBE Framework in the formulation of the Goals, Objectives and Outcomes for the
different programs at the College of Engineering is shown in Figure 1. The
development of the OBE curriculum is based and anchored on the Institutional
Outcomes, Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Program Outcomes (POs) and
Course/Learning Outcomes (COs) which are interrelated and complimentary with each
other. The Institutional Outcomes and PEOs are the long term outcomes while the
POs and COs are the short term outcomes.

Publication and Dissemination of the VMGO

Initially, the new vision and mission of MMSU was introduced on the 35 th
University Foundation Anniversary celebration held last 6 th to 9th of January 2013 with
its theme “Breaking Grounds, making Strides towards Global Recognition”.

After its approval by the BOR in June 27, 2013, the university’s vision and
mission as wells as the college’s goals and the ceramic engineering program

objectives were disseminated through various prints and non-print media. The various
forms/media used in disseminating the VMGO were tabulated in Table 1. These
includes posting in the internet (i.e. mmsu.edu.ph), Facebook (i.e. MMSU COE
Student Council), bulletin boards in the college, display panel boards at the MMSU
Administration Building and posters. These are likewise printed in various publications
such as souvenir programs/invitations, university and college information bulletins,
student handbooks, course syllabi, program brochure and flyers (College of
Engineering). Further, these are discussed in orientation programs for freshmen,
shiftees, and transferees together with their parents and guardians every First
semester of each Academic Year.

Posting and Distribution of the VMGO inside and outside University premises.

Photographs of posted VMGO inside and outside MMSU premises are shown in
Figure 2. The VMGO’s are posted in various modalities such as: a) VMGO’s are
posted in strategic locations in the college, b) posted in the Department’s bulletin
board; c) posted at FEM Hall building entrance; d) posted in the internet; e)

In addition to the postings inside and outside University premises, the VMGO’s
are disseminated among other media through distribution of brochures (shown in
Figure 3), incorporation of the VMGO, PEOs, and POs in the syllabus (shown in Figure
4) and discussing in the first class meeting of every semester, and discussion during
freshman orientation program (shown in Figure 5).
