SOLAR ECLIPSE
A solar eclipse occurs when the position of the Moon lies between the Earth
and the Sun, so close some or all of the Sun’s light. Although the Moon is
smaller, shadow Moon was able to protect the light from the Sun completely
because the Moon is an average distance of 384,400 kilometers from Earth
closer than the Sun has an average distance of 149,680,000 kilometers.
Solar eclipses can be divided into four types, namely:
The total eclipse, occurs when when the peak of the Eclipse, the solar disc was
closed entirely by the disc of the moon. At that time, the moon disc as
great as or greater than the solar disc. The size of the solar disc and the disc
of the moon itself varies depending on each Earth-Sun-Moon and Earth.
A partial eclipse, occurs when the dish of the month (when the peak of the
Eclipse) just shut down a part of the solar disc. On this Eclipse, there is
always a part of the solar disc that is not covered by the disc of the moon.
Ring, Eclipse occurs when the moon disc (when the peak of the Eclipse)
just shut down a part of the solar disc. This type of Eclipse happens when the
moon disc size is smaller than the solar disc. So when the disc of the Moon
is in front of the solar disc, not the entire disk of the Sun will be covered by
the disc of the moon. Part of the solar disc that is not covered by the disc of the
Moon, located around the disc of the Moon and look like a ring of fire.
A hybrid Eclipse, total Eclipse and shifted between the rings. At a certain
point on the Earth’s surface, this appears as Eclipse Eclipse of the total,
while on other points appears as Eclipse ring. Hybrid eclipses are relatively
rare.
Observing solar eclipses
Solar Eclipse 1999 in France
Looking directly into the Sun-fotosfer (part of the ring of light from the
Sun) can be dangerous, because it resulted in permanent damage to the
retina of the eye due to an invisible high radiation emitted
from fotosfer. Damage can result in blindness. Observing a solar
eclipse requires special eye protection or by using the method
of seeing indirectly. The use of glasses to watch the Eclipse is not
secure because it does not filter out infrared radiation that can damage the
retina of the eye. Because of the immediacy of the circulation of the
Earth circling the Sun, a solar eclipse may not last more than 7 minutes
and 58 seconds, so the observation should be done as soon as possible.
