 Explain and Elaborate
With the current situation of our country, specifically the rising number of COVID-19 cases here in Negros Occidental, I firmly believe that the Philippines
has an incompetent government. But just to be clear, I do not hate this administration, it’s just the fact that their incompetence was the main reason why the
country’s cases are still increasing. As far as I could remember, COVID began around on the 31st of December last year and it was popularized due to the severity
of cases in China. The first remedy that our country could have done around February to March is to implement the travel ban among countries with a rising
number of cases, just like Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan. But the whole administration never listened to our plea and voila, the first case of our country began
coming from a Chinese national. One of the main reasons why they did not adhere to the idea of the banning of travel is because of the economic ties of the
Philippines to other countries. Moreover, they believed that President Xi Jin Ping would immediately help resolve our country’s mess.
Now, going forward, now that we are already done in the first half of the year, still, the cases never decreased a bit. We cannot just for the vaccine to instantly
come and cure all of this virus because creating a vaccine itself entails trial and error method. Medical professionals have already been giving their suggestions and
plans that the administration must implement to decrease the cases. Different measures have been also executed to determine who among us are positive for the
virus, and when found that we acquire COVID-19, patients are immediately taken to the hospital to undergo 14 days of isolation. However, the number of patients
inside the halls, rooms, and lobbies of any kind of hospital, there seems to be no room for any other patients. Medical front liners are already drained due to the
overtime they spent on hospitals, some doctors acquired COVID themselves since they are frequently exposed to the virus, and other hospitals lack health
professionals. Moreover, the facilities here in our country are not as excellent as those in other countries, so the only thing we could do right now is to increase the
manpower. But how could we do so when our medical front liners are being looked down upon and perceived as incompetent individuals?
Right now, the only help I could do as a student is to diligently stay at my home and engage myself in various social issues. As someone who took medical
sciences while I was in my senior high school years, it is also my goal to educate those who find it difficult to understand the medical lexicons. And more
importantly, I’m hoping and praying that this administration would find efficient ways of preventing the increase in cases.
