current as iB = 16A. Determine the emitter current iE and the collector current iC. And also

the described charge flow is constant.

(ii) The value of generated emf when the output is 60 kW, with a terminal voltage of 520 V.

(b) Write a short note on the dc-offsetting amplifier and design a circuit such that v0 = 10vI + 2.5V.
Assume  5 V supplies. (10 M)

(c) A 1- transformer has to be designed to work with a primary voltage of 11 kV and a secondary
voltage of 440 V. If the maximum flux density is 1.2 Wb/m2 and the number of primary turns is
1400, calculate

(f) Calculate the guage factor of a strain guage if a 1.5 mm diameter conductor that is 24 mm long
changes length by 1mm and diameter by 0.02 mm under a compression force. The change in

(b) A 200 V, dc shunt motor develops an output of 16.9 kW when taking an input of 20.2 kW.
The filed winding resistance is 50 Ω, and armature resistance is 0.06 Ω. Calculate the efficiency
and power input when the output is 7.35 kW. (20 M)

(c) Design and implement a BCD counter using JK Flip flops. Is the counter is self-starting. (15 M)

(b) (i) Define the terms „Dynamic error‟ and „Resolution‟ of an instrument.
(ii) A wattmeter reads 400 W when its current coil is connected in the R phase and its pressure
coil is connected between this phase and the neutral of a symmetrical 3-phase system
supplying a balanced star connected 0.8 p.f. inductive load. The phase sequence is RYB.
What will be the reading of this wattmeter if its pressure coil alone is reconnected between
the B and Y phases, all other connections remaining as before? (5 M + 15 M)

(c) A DC series motor, having a resistance of 1Ω between terminals, runs at a speed of 800 rpm at
200 V with a current of 15 A. Find the speed at which it will run when connected in series with a
5Ω resistance taking the same current at the same supply voltage. (15 M)

08. (a) It is required to design a class B output stage to deliver an average power of 20W to an 8-
load. The power supply is to be selected such that VCC is about 5V greater than the peak output
voltage. This avoids transistor saturation and the associated nonlinear distortion, and allows for
including short-circuit protection circuitry. Determine the supply voltage required, the peak
current drawn from each supply, the total supply power, and the power-conversion efficiency.
Also determine the maximum power that each transistor must be able to dissipate safely. (20 M)

(b) (i) Discuss about Digital Ramp ADC and its operation.
(ii) The data sheet of a quad two-input NAND gate specifies the following parameters:
IOH(max.) = 0.4mA, VOH(min.) = 2.7V, VIH(min.) = 2V, VIL(max.) = 0.8V,
