It is important to create your own movement and not just learn the movements from or about the movements of
another. You can make use of the locomotor and non - locomotor skills and apply the elements of dance to
help get you moving. Begin with an inspiration, select a few movements that fit the purpose or express this
idea, sequence these movement, add other elements as needed and then repeat this pattern changing your
movements as you choose. Create your own pattern by choosing from the form above. Consider the following:

What body parts will you use?

 Basically, I will use all the body parts because it is easier to have smooth movements when all of the
body parts are involved which are hip, leg, arm, feet, neck, knee, head, chest, and shoulder.
What movements will you make?
 The movements I would like to use will be rotation, swaying, gliding and a lot of smooth movements.
Actually, I don’t really like sharp movements because for me it is only for good dancers and it
emphasizes how good you are with hip-hop dances because that kind of dance has a lot of sharp and
fast movements. If the dance movements will be soft and smooth, I will be more comfortable and I will
enjoy the dance itself.

How will you sequence them?

 I will sequence the steps and movements depending on the music and the last step I did because every
dance needs a flow of movements and the music also affects how you will create the next step.
Previous movement should be connected with the next movement and the theme shouldn’t be far from
each other because it will make the movement tricky or difficult that can ruin the movement.
Where and how will you travel through space?
 I will travel through space with small jumping, hopping, and sideways that will make the dance smooth.
The movement I will make to travel should partner with the movements that I am making or the
previous movement that I made. It should be a smooth travel and not to too difficult.
What type of time will you take?
 I would prefer slow, and medium but it will always depend on the beat of the music and on what type of
movement I will make.
How much energy do you want to inject into your movements?
 The energy I would inject/put into my movement will be free, light, and smooth because what I want to
do with my movements is that it would be soft tone and smooth. I think the energy that I would give to
the movement will be those free, light and smooth because I prefer smooth movements than sharp/rock
and hard ones.
Who, what or how do you need to move with?
 I would prefer those people who I need to move with people who is the same with me when it comes to
dancing so that it would not be hard to teach them and it will make much easier to dance, but I can also
do it alone or by myself. If I have some people who I can dance with, I would use them to move with the
movements that you can just do when you have some partners to do it.
