“We don't have a choice on whether we do social media, the choice is how well

we do it”.

- Erik Qualman

Nowadays, technology eaten up most of the golden time of the primary

knowledgeable creatures - humans who invented such. The undeniable effect takes
place in our society like those scenarios statistically depicted on the video, such as 53%
of millenials would rather lose their sense of smell than their technology, 93% of buying
decisions are influenced by Social media, more people own a mobile device than a
toothbrush and 1 in 3 marriages start online. Social media equates to relationships as
its form comes handy which means easy communication to others through virtual
representation dominates. Subsequently, its presence contains asset and contra asset
as aforementioned.

Upon reflecting, as a growing individual whose life basically circulates more on

social media, I can somehow evaluate the factors that accentuate the power of social
media like that of peer pressure, trends, economic changes. I must say that it is a great
challenge to balance everything, but we all know for sure the real value of physical
contact which made humans' soul intertwined and spindle among the nicest fabric.
Social media is a good thing most especially in getting news update, fashion trends,
democratic show-off of perceptions in life, easy communication and the like but
spending too much in it becomes a bad habit. Truth been exposed, most of the
millenials suffer anxiety, depression because of the essence of Social Media, but I must
infer that it is a matter on how you transport and revitalize the words or the visuals into
your mind for it is the mighty ruler of your body. In conclusion, the key upon surviving
the brisk of technological change is ‘balance’, one must learn to weigh things out which
means everything must undergo critical thinking in order for us to survive, learn and
enjoy.
