Welcome to Miss. Cipalla’s 7th Grade Science Course!
Grades will reflect a student’s progress in a well-balanced and standards-based curriculum.
Grades will come regularly in the form of homework, classwork, quizzes, and projects to reflect
an accurate measure of the student’s progress and achievement. The work produced will be
graded on quality and opportunities will be given to students to improve their work such as the
following:
Late Work Allowance:
 All students will have 5 late days when regarding projects that they can use throughout
the quarter. After that the maximum grade will be 90% and each extra day late will be 5%
off the final, unless discussed with teacher.
 Students will have until the unit test to complete any missing homework or classwork for
the course.
Test Corrections:
 Students will have a full week from the day the test is returned to complete the test
corrections offered for the course for all possible points to be earned back. Anytime after
that the two scores will be averaged for the best possible score.
Make-Up Work:
 Students will be allowed to make-up work, especially from absent days (assignments and
tests must be made up in a time equal to the absence (absent for three days = three extra
days to make up the work) unless discussed further with teacher.

Students found to have engaged in academic dishonesty shall
be subject to disciplinary penalties and will complete a make- B: 80 – 89

work of another student, plagiarism, and inappropriate
communication between students during a test.

Homework: Meaningful homework assignments will be given to the


students based on the class-time lessons. Students will get time to work
on homework during class and will be asked to finish the homework
outside of class. The grades are given based on accuracy of the works
Class Work: The class work will be given frequently based on the
lessons. This will include individual and group work in addition to test
reviews and class activities. The grades are given based on accuracy of
the works.
Tests: The tests will be given after each unit. The students will be
informed of tests.
Projects: The students will experience various types of projects,
including hands-on activities, developing posters or PowerPoint. Grades
are given by rubrics.
