UNIT 1
MODUL
E 1 SCIENTIFIC ATTITUDES

Overview
One of the most important outcome of teaching science are scientific attitudes. Scientific
attitudes enable us to think rationally. There are different qualities and virtues that reflects the
behavior and action of a person. Scientific attitude is being objecting in observation and thinking,
he/she is truthful in his/her thinking, objective in his/her observation and action and is free from
superstitious beliefs. (Gogoi, 2014).
Scientific research is done with patience and determination. Doing a research is not an
easy skill. Each research starts with a necessity that wonders the mind on how to solve it.
Research is not done overnight. It is done using a thorough investigation. As a researcher, you
should possess an attitude to get the research done. In this module, you will learn the different
scientific attitude and the importance of it.

Time allotment:
Motivation:

At the end of this module, the learner is expected to:

1. Identify the different scientific attitudes.
2. Explain how scientific attitudes can help in doing a research
3. Apply scientific attitudes in designing simple science investigation
