There is a water crisis in many areas of
Pakistan, but this particular article will be
focused on the area, Mansehra. Mansehra is
a town located in the province of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa. It is a market village
surrounded by pine hill covered hills and is
approximately 12 miles north of Abbottabad
city, home of Pakistan’s military academy.
About the locals and their lifestyle
The individuals living in Mansehra are very
friendly and are always there to lend a helping
hand. The populace comprises of primarily
youngsters. A large portion of the populace is
under 20 years.

Explaining the water crisis

“Most areas in the city and its suburbs have been
without water supply for a long time as both
Khatta supply schemes have dried up and now,
the water supply from Icher Nullah has also been
suspended,” resident Mohammad Ajmal told
reporters. The water crisis in Mansehra is getting
worse day by day and residents are not happy. As
well as the water levels dropping, sewage from
nearby residential and commercial units and
roads, flows into the reservoir, polluting it.

Mansehra needs over 32 million liters of water

daily and the TMA ( ) supplied 1.6 million liters of
water until March this year when Boothkhatta and
Ichar Nullah water reservoirs began to dry up.

80% of the 2 reservoirs water levels had ended

and individuals only receive 20% of the water
provided.

The effects of this

The effects of this water crisis have been present
on many people in Mansehra. The effects include
a high number of cases of gastroenteritis,
waterborne hepatitis, and skin diseases.

The people are boiling the water so that

most of the harsh chemicals are evaporated
in drinking water.

When asked by DAWN news, “We are in the

process of tendering to sink a shallow well
meant to end water crisis in Mansehra city,”
said district councilor from the City 2
neighborhood council Akmal Khan Swati.

He said the Mansehra TMA would provide

Rs7.5 million funds for the scheme.

My Fundraiser
To raise money to build a well in Pakistan,
have decided to hold a movie night for 2-6
with one ticket costing $10 which would help
me make at least $700 if most of the
students in grade 2-6 attend the event. This
amount of money is enough to build 2 wells
in Pakistan.

The 10 steps I will follow for this fundraiser to

be successful will be,

1. Receive permission from the

principal
2. Plan and a set an estimate of how
much money will be made from the
movie night
3. Decide a day for the event
4. Ask my friends to assist me with
the event
5. Hand out the permission letters to
the classes and set a deadline for
when they should bring the money
by
6. Make posters and hang them up
around the school
7. Remind everyone about it by going
to their classes the day before
8. Collect the money
9. Send the money to human appeal
10. Set up the movie in the hall with
my friends and have fun
