5. CHECK PHOTOMETER ALIGNMENT

Align photometer (plate positioning to the channel block)

-Place the empty metal plate into the plate carrier.
-Go into the ChemWell communication window and type:
PLTH RWELA01729 IOFF
-The plate should remain at the A01, A04, D01 and D04. If not, type the last three commands again.
-Remove the lamp bracket by unscrewing the one (1) screw that holds it.
-Close one eye and look at positions A04 and D04 (vision path should be perpendicular to the
holes).
-The Channel block holes should be seen through the plate holes A04 and D04 (The holes should
be centered, or close to being centered).
-If the channel block is not close to being centered, remove the side panel on the right for better
access to the photometer, then partially unscrew the two screws that hold the photometer to the
Plate X Y assembly as shown in the picture below to the left.
-Move the photometer (see picture to the right) until the channel block holes are centered to the
plate holes in positions A-04 and D-04.

PARTIALLY UNSCREW ADJUST

-Once aligned, tighten the screws and repeat the following commands to confirm a good alignment:
PLTH RWELA01729 IOFF
If alignment is not ok, realign and confirm. If alignment is OK, do the following:
-Now check your alignment at H12 by typing:
PLTH RWELH12722 IOFF
Check alignment on E12 and H12 following the same steps as when checking A-04 and D-04.
-Realign if necessary.
-If the alignment is good at one end but not the other, and after realinging several times, the plate
may be overshooting/undershooting. Refer to section “4 Inspect Plate Y Overshoot/Undershoot”.

Paremeter Confirmation

When the alignment is done, perform the following through the ChemWell Communications window:
RWELA01722 IOFF POSI
Visually confirm that the alignment is ok, and record the positioning values (obtained with !POSI) for
the plate X and Y coordinates. Now record the new values in the parameter list by typing:
PARM4Xxxxx PARM4Yyyyy
where xxxx = new POSI coordinate for plate X, and yyyy = new POSI coordinate for Plate Y
