Interviewee: Ban Bunheng, Gender: Male, Age: 35
Job title: Director for Office of Administration, at The University of Cambodia

Interviewer: Can you tell me about what you think were the challenge experienced by your
company/organizations?
Interviewee: Hmm… Yes! Good morning, my name is Ban Bunheng, and I am working for
private higher educate institution. Well, there is a lot of changing experienced in
my company because higher education institution is offer education services, and
while covid-19 pandemic came into Cambodia, the Royal Government of
Cambodia, especially Ministry of Education, Youth and Spot had ordered all
education institution to close down for a whiles, and then two weeks later MoEYS
had come up with other instruction and guideline to allow all education institution
to continue to offer education service by online. All in all, there a lot change you
know, because before all education institution offer education by physical classes,
its mean that all staff, faculty members, students need to go to campus in order to
get the service. But since the covid-19 pandemic, all faculty members, students
need to study by online, while they never have experience by online before, so it
really hard for them in term of using technology and in term of getting education
though online at the beginning…..but later on it getting used to for them.

Interviewer: Tell me about what you think your organization / company did to cope with the
challenges?
Interviewee: Hmm…thank you, my company really smart, flexible and been ahead, because
since MoEYS instructed all education institutions to offer education service
through online, just a week later my company or we called school can adapted
online platform to provide education service to students which giving them
opportunity to continue their study. I’m sure at first it’s really difficult but later on
it getting much better and better. Since we have good coordination and
cooperation among colleague and our management, so difficult time become
opportunity time to learn, to explore new thing and new experience with what we
never face before.

Interviewer: Tell about your PERSONAL experiences with undertaken organizational changes
to cope with the challenges?
Interviewee: Thank you for question, well…my personal experience with undertaken
organizational changes to cope with the challenges, you know as I mention some
point above, it is new experience and it a bit hard for me at first, but there is a lot
opportunities to learn, to explore new things. While before, when you get struck in
some particular or certain work you go directly to your supervisor and asking for
assistant or asking for instruction or asking for decision, but since Covid-19
pandemic we cannot go directly to our supervisors or management’s office. So,
we need to seek for their assistant, advice and instruction through online, we need
to reached out them by online with social apps other like Telegram or WhatApp,
WeChat in order to communication.

Interviewer: In a scale of 1-10, where 10 means there is an extremely positive result of the
Implemented changes and 1 means there is an extremely positive result of the
implemented changes. How would you rate the results of changes that were
implemented in your organization/company? Why?

Interviewee: I would rate the result of change that were implemented for my school is 8,
because you know it a bit negative but mostly positive of change, it mean that
since my school have plan for many year term of implement online programs,
which allow all foreigner students can study at The University of Cambodia, but
unfortunately in the past MoEYS was not recognize online program, so what
impossible in the past come to possible while covid-19 pandemic situation, and
then we working on what we have planned. So it really positive impact and
change to the school I working for, and it is really positive. Therefore, what I said
a small negative impact because of school needs to reduce unnecessary expenses
which before use this expenses to buy some new equipment or spent on other
needed, and in other hand they had cut down some numbers of staff, because we
are working online scope. To sum-up, it is a positive impact or change that were
implemented in my school where I work for.
