Pre P7 Summer Workpack

Dear Parents,

Your child is nearing their last year of Primary Education. You will be well aware pupils will be
coming into direct contact with the transfer arrangements.

You have already received information from Mrs Moffett about plans regarding the
Grammar School Entrance Exam. All children intending to sit The AQE Exam are encouraged
to work over the Summer. We have included 9 test papers to do, and we recommend that
this work is done in full. However, if your child is doing tests that you have bought, or a
Tutor’s tests, that can be enough. The idea is to keep up regular practice of the test format.
Answers are provided for the tests! Try not to panic about scores, these are really odd times
and we will continue to guide you and work with your child as best we can on return to
school after this extended time off. One of the more desirable outcomes of this process over
the summer is to establish good time management. Pupils are encouraged to use the full
hour allocated, to check, correct and refining their answers. See challenge as an opportunity
to learn! Use mistakes as a springboard for new learning!
We want to strongly encourage reading as an essential activity over the summer as it is a key
factor in helping children succeed in any tests. Hopefully this reading will be viewed for
enjoyment!

We would also like to stress we think that all children need a period of complete relaxation!
Don’t we all! We would suggest 2 completely test free weeks are necessary. You know your
own child best and if more than 2 test free weeks are needed, that is entirely up to you. We
will not be asking to see the summer pack again; it is purely for your guidance.

As you know, the tests dates have been moved by two weeks and will be: - Saturday 21st
November, Saturday 28th November and Saturday 12th December. Results will be sent out to
you on 30th January 2021.

The registration process for the 2020/21 cycle commenced on Thursday, 14th May.
Closing date for registration will now be Friday 25th September 2020.

If you are CERTAIN your child will not be sitting the Grammar School Entrance tests (AQE),
then revision of tables etc and plenty of reading would be of enormous benefit, as well as
completing any of the outstanding work the P6s set before the end of June.
