PART 1
Think about an event in your life (this could be related to your personal or
professional life). It is advisable to choose an event that you wish to better
understand, or you feel that you could have managed better.
1. Give a brief description of the event (mention if other parties were involved):
I choose an event for my professional where I had to make a decision to leave a 3-year job
to go to another company with better opportunities, I think I could see the situation handled
in another way to deliver the position and resign from the company and to convey all the
gratitude I felt for having been part of this company for a long time.
2. Apply the Gibbs reflective cycle to your reflection (Figure 1). Address ALL the
questions that follow in the form of personal notes. Please note, you have to
touch on the elements outlined in the help text.
o Describe your feelings (Min. 100 words) All points must be addressed :
Many feelings were presented at the event , nostalgia for the company that is left after 3
years, gratitude for the manager who gave me the opportunity to have been part of the
company for a long time and to have learned from all colleagues , concern for the
reaction of the work leaders when knowing the decision I was making , but on the other
hand happiness and expectation before the new job, excitement of knowing my job and
the activities that I had to carry out , sadness of leaving so many people who supported
me for all these years and they shared so much with me.
o How did you feel about the situation?
I felt a lucky person for having the opportunity to grow for so long at a professional level
and with fear of seeing the reaction of the boss at that moment when I gave up my
resignation aligned so that this decision is for personal and organizational benefit. , on
the other hand, business malaise can generate nonconformity in employees when dealing
with stress and a dense work environment, in which productivity is not achieved, but
rather a job fear for everything offered in the two jobs, I felt receptive to everything
new.
o The reaction of my work leaders was divided, while the manager is upset by the decision,
takes a demanding and controversial position, in addition to trying to challenge me with
an economic offer; The immediate boss was happy about the decision and the new
growth opportunity that she had, offering her full support with the handover of the
position, as well as the open position to achieve reorganization of the company in terms
of the activities it performed. The colleagues from the other areas expressed themselves
with nostalgia and wished me the best successes in this new professional project, in the
end the company had a positive change.

o Reflect on your answer to part ‘a’ (Min. 100 words) All points must be addressed:
My feelings of nostalgia and radical effect in the face of the decision at the beginning one
feels anger and rejection that can cause the leader to explode, which was avoided, it was
decided to speak calmly with the employee r , generate an atmosphere of trust to
know the reasons and I take the position if it is possible to find a way to retain myself,
on the other hand, due to the feeling of gratitude, the leaders felt happy for the
recognition that I achieved in front of what I learned in the company and professional
growth, finally my feeling of joy spread to other colleagues.
o Did your emotions alter or influence the situation?
The honest, sincere manifestation regarding the reasons for the resignation altered the
situation from the point of view of change. The resignation is something natural that
must be accepted. Cycles always come to an end and these must be taken as learning,
not as failures, it is the inclination of the attitude of the work leaders, they realized that
the resignation will promote the improvement of the area in question, and of the
organization and although it can be very natural to feel you upset, or worried s about
this situation and the changes that came in the company.
I think that my feelings were coherent with the situation presented at the work level, in
the end reconsidering that one must remain calm, analyse the situation based on
evidence and generate alternatives before making decisions without negative feelings
towards the people who are part of the situation and that in some way the decision and
the emotions of joy and nostalgia for the new opportunity are part of it, I felt calm
knowing that what I felt is due to all the experiences lived before this situation.
o Reflect on how you controlled and would like to control your own emotions (Min

part of the emotions during a working day, are strong accomplices when taking

Evidence checklist
PART 1
1. Understand your emotions and how they affect others. Reflect on Part 2 of
Task1. (Min. 150 words) All points must be addressed Address and
discuss the following questions in the form of personal notes:
Emotions like these are part of human nature. They give us information about
what we are experiencing and help us to know how to react. Emotions come and
go. Most of us feel many different emotions throughout the day. Some last only a
few seconds. Others may last a little longer, triggering a mood. Emotions can be
mild, intense, or anything in between. The intensity of an emotion can depend on
the situation and the person.
o How do you think that those emotions/behaviours affect the people around you?
There are no good or bad emotions, but there are good and bad ways of
expressing emotions or acting on them which directly affects all those involved in
the processes. Learning to express emotions in acceptable ways is a separate skill,
emotion control, which is based on being able to understand emotions to convey
and not negatively affect others.
o How do you think that those emotions/behaviours impact on your ability to achieve
your goals?
Emotional awareness helps us to reveal what we need and want (or don't want).
It helps us build better relationships. This is because being aware of our emotions
helps us to speak clearly about our feelings, avoid or better resolve conflicts, and
overcome difficult feelings more easily to achieve goals.
Some emotions are positive: like feeling happy, loving, self-confident, inspired,
happy, interested, grateful, or included. Other emotions may seem more negative:
like feeling angry, resentful, scared, embarrassed, guilty, sad, or worried. Both
positive and negative emotions are normal and adjacent.
The people evaluate events experienced in a process that serves to relate the
events with people and their goals, and evaluation of these events which
stimulates emotions.
o What can you do to break the cycle and manage your emotional triggers? How can
you improve the way that you manage your emotions/behaviours?
the first step in this process consists of knowing how to clearly define what we are
feeling. Having a large emotional vocabulary is essential, we need to incorporate
into our minds a clear concept of emotions more complex and elaborate, having
identified the emotion, the next step is to accept their presence. This does not
mean not trying to deny or run from what we feel. Allowing ourselves to feel fully
helps reduce the intensity of the emotion: when it comes, let it be and it will go.
Set priorities. Decide what to do and what to expect and learn to say no to new
tasks if you are overwhelmed and take time to do relaxing activities that you
enjoy.
PART 2
1. Interview (in person or via email/social media private messaging) 3 people who
are close to you and who know you well. Ask them to be honest with their
answers.
emotional vocabulary
2. Review the answers/feedback in the table above (Min. 150 words). All points
must be addressed
Reflect on the answers received and address the following questions in the form of personal
notes:
o Was there anything that surprised you in the way others see you? What surprised
you (or did not surprise you) and why?
I was surprised by the way each person thinks, but the one that impacted me the most
was the ability of tenacity and the behavior to argue with myself, because it is a facet of
emotions and form that I did not identify.
o How do you think those personal traits and behaviours affect you in your personal
and professional life?
Positive emotions have other benefits. Instead of limiting us, they affect our brains and
increase our awareness, attention, and memory. They help absorb more information, hold
multiple ideas at the same time, and understand how ideas relate to one another. By
identifying each of our emotions we can know what worries us or makes us feel good, and
with this we can have better relationships with the people around us and, even more,
success in every area of our life (even at work). Through emotional self-control, we manage
our feelings and behaviors. Through the control of positive and negative emotions we can

o What can you do to improve the way you manage your emotions/behaviours?
Discuss this question clearly referring to the dimensions of self-control,
trustworthiness, conscientiousness, adaptability, achievement orientation and
initiative.
By identifying each of our emotions we can know what worries us or makes us feel
good, and with this we can have better relationships with the people around us
and, even more, success in every area of our life (even at work). Through
emotional self-control, we manage our feelings and behaviors. Through the control
of positive and negative emotions we can experience and express them properly.
More control over your emotions will help develop a strong mentality and
achieve better results in the relationships, in the career. Precise words are
important. That is why it is good that when you experience a strong emotion,
be it positive or negative, you take the time to identify how to name it. She
emphasizes that our emotions give us useful information and help us to act to
defend ourselves, express ourselves and attend to our needs. Understanding
our emotions is how we form authentic and meaningful relationships with
ourselves and with others. Reflect on your emotions every day.

1. At the labour level, a situation of frustration was experienced with the decision of
the company's management to unfairly withdraw a colleague from without any
justification. The first step in dealing with frustration is certainly acknowledging
it. Acknowledging our stumbles or feeling disappointed does not make us weak. If
you know your capabilities, know how to exploit your talents and trust what you
are capable of, it will take much more than a bad streak to bring you
down. Recognize your skills and cultivate them to go even further. Those with
emotional intelligence see every fall as an opportunity to see what went wrong and
readjust their strategy. They are practical: they preserve what works for them,
discard what does not, and thus manage to have an increasingly effective growth
strategy. the most successful people in managing their emotions (and their
businesses) have the habit of meditating daily.
2. What Emotional Intelligence offers us are tools and skills with which to better
resolve the complexities of our social contexts. It is a channel of self-knowledge
and a transformative quality. The first step in developing emotional intelligence is
learning to recognize our emotions and feelings and then understand where they
come from and be able to control them.

quality of interpersonal relationships, and the appropriate control of emotions such
as anger, frustration or apathy, among others. In this way, the influence that
Emotional Intelligence has at work on the capacity of the leader within the
professional environment becomes evident and becomes, indisputably, the
determining factor for the success of the executive, far above other types of
intelligence.
6. Reflect on the interview and the feedback you have received. (Min. 150 words)
All points must be addressed. Address the following questions in the form of personal
notes:
If the interview was effective it served to provide multiple opportunities for the
interviewee to test their potential values and skills, develop an interview structure
that can be kept consistent.
It was possible to connect with the interviewee in the following way, looking for
critical incidents in their conversation. Once the competencies have been
identified, in the interview it is time to ask about situations in which the candidate
had put these competencies to the test. It is very important to know what you
thought, what you did or how you felt in certain situations to better understand
how you act in contexts similar to those that could be found in our organization.
o Do you think that you understood the emotions well? Do you think that you took any
cultural expressions into consideration?
punctuality, they are part of the transfer of emotions that influence the
culture of the interviewee.
The interviewee answered all the questions adequately because the questions
take into account that some competencies must be based on skills and
experience, while others must consider personality attributes and cultural
adjustment.
o Were you flexible and adaptable in the way you conducted the interview?
Structure the interview to provide multiple opportunities for the candidate to test
their values and potential skills in order to be successful in the role.
o What have you learned from this exercise? What can you improve upon?
A thoughtful and thorough interview process will increase your ability to evaluate
interviewees. Remember that the interview process reflects the value that the
organization places on its employees based on work experience.
PART 2
Consider that you are the managing director of a company that could employ
your colleague/friend to undertake their ideal job. Based on your interview
and considering their emotions address the following (Address all 3 questions

Evidence checklist
PART 1
You have been appointed project manager of an extensive change management project at
company ABC.
The change is substantial: there is a new organisational structure, many employees will be
required to relocate in regional offices and new software has been implemented requiring
employees to be trained whilst still delivering on their day to day tasks.
Staff at ABC feels overwhelmed, fatigued, fearful, uncertain and negative towards the change.
Reflect on the ABC scenario and address the following questions (please note that
textbook answers will not be accepted, you should address each question based on
the scenario):
a) What opportunities could you offer to the ABC staff to express their thoughts
and feelings? (Min. 100 words)
Don't expect too much
Determine the purpose
Create a narration
Worry about knowing if he understands you
Learn from your mistakes
b) An employee who faces redundancy has been particularly vocal against the
change. He keeps talking about it in the office, his work performance has
dropped, and he often loses his temper when faced with conflicts in the
workplace.
You know that there is nothing that you can do to save his job, however you
also have a responsibility towards the other employees to maintain a safe and
stable work environment during the implementation of the change project.
Record your answers below (Min. 150 words):
I. How can you assist this disgruntled employee to understand the effect
that his behaviours and emotions have on others in the workplace?
II. How can you encourage him to self-manage his emotions? What tools
and techniques could you suggest?
It is important to alert the company to the need to apply emotional intelligence and
it is important to differentiate between an optimistic and a pessimistic attitude , it lies in the
approach with which things are appreciated: striving to discover inconveniences and
difficulties causes us apathy and discouragement. Optimism means making the same effort to
find solutions, advantages and possibilities.
Choose a good leader .
Stimulation .
PART 2
1. Company ABC assigns you a project team. The team comprises of 6 team
members. A breakdown of their characteristics is presented below:
Your change management project requires you to plan and deliver all changes
identified by ABC. You are also entrusted to support the engagement of the
workforce (at all levels) with the project.
Review the work experience of each member, research their personality
types and their level of EI.
Based on your findings outline how you can best use the project team
members to achieve a successful outcome of your project.
