2.5 UNDERSTANDING OF THE STONE PROPERTY Stage makeup is a face makeup used for
staging or performance opportunities on stage according to the purpose of the show. Stage makeup is a
makeup that emphasizes certain effects such as the eyes, nose, lips, and eyebrows so that attention is
specifically focused on the face. This makeup is to be seen from a distance under a bright light (spot
light), the cosmetics that are applied are thick and shiny enough, with real facial lines, and cause an
interesting contrast. Stage makeup includes night makeup that was developed from the
makeup that players wear at opera shows or other performances since the Roman golden age. Rapid
technological development, especially in the use of lamps with very strong light effects for stage lighting
requires more extreme makeup. Stage makeup is applied for performances on stage, for example for
models at fashion shows, singers at musical shows, theater performers, and dancers. The
purpose of putting on stage is to meet the needs and conditions of certain characters, characters, roles
and themes based on the concept of staging objectives. Make-up stage has a basic principle that must
be considered, namely: 1. The distance between the stage and the audience is very influential in
determining the thickness of face makeup. The closer the stage to the audience, the finer the makeup
results. 2. Lights (lighting) that are used for stage lighting. 3. Light is an important part of the show.
Various objects on the stage will give a certain impression if exposed to light, including human faces that
have a three-dimensional shape. Mistakes in giving shadows to the face will be fatal, it needs to be
handled properly, especially on the part that is a hard corner must be given sharp light and a weak angle
that requires shadows. 4. Media used for shows. Performance media can be either open or closed
performances. Performances that use an open stage do not really need lighting so that makeup is not
too thick, but for the stage covered with sufficient lighting, it requires thicker and sharper makeup. 5.
The color of cosmetics used are classified as contrasting colors that attract attention. 6. Emphasis with
certain effects such as on the eyes, eyebrows, nose and lips so that the attention of the audience can be
focused specifically on the face of the stage performer.
