Course Objectives [COs]

The objective of this course is to introduce students with:
This course is intended to know Textile Chemical Processing. Actually, the grey fabric coming from the
loom is not having all properties both functional and aesthetic so we cannot use it directly for making
apparels or clothing. That’s why it is necessary to go for chemical processing of the material to make it
wearable and more attractive. This course is designed to provide the students with the fundamental
knowledge of different method of dyeing, printing and finishing.

Course Learning Outcomes [CLOs]

After learning this module, students are expected to:
1. Learn the processes of different textile chemical processing,
2. Know about required water quality, singing, de-sizing, bleaching, mercerizing processes and
different dyeing machines used in textile chemical processing etc.
3. Gather detailed knowledge about application and properties of different dyestuffs (Reactive, vat,
disperse, basic, acid, pigments, direct etc.) used in dyeing.
4. Know the methods and styles of printing, printing ingredients and different printing process.
5. Students also acquire a good knowledge about finishing process.

Teaching Method
The course is taught in English so that the students will have an opportunity to enhance their English
ability while learning the key knowledge in apparel manufacturing technology. Lectures are delivered
using a Multimedia Projector such that students have the privilege to view information or materials up
close. Lectures include a number of interactive discussions i.e. students are given chances to speak by
believing that they have much to contribute to the curriculum and to each other, therefore, lecture sessions
provide numerous opportunities for them to do so. The methodology of academic transaction is such as to
encourage resilience – the holistic understanding of contexts, the flexibility to adopt new ideas, and the
capability to persevere.

Grading
Grading for any course is determined by:
 Attendance 10%
 Assignment and Presentation 10%
 Class tests 10%
 Midterm examination 30%
 Final examination 40%

Attendance
 Attendance is mandatory.
 A class roll will be taken at the beginning of each class.
 Missing every successive three classes without reasonable excuses in a semester will have a course
grade 5 deducted points or a less letter grade.
 100% attendance record will be rewarded 5 points.

Honour Code
Students are expected to adhere to the guidelines for academic integrity. This in other words means that
ANY activity that goes against the rules set forth when giving a homework or a test or taking class roll
will be dealt with a very strict fashion.
Grades are valuable: Honours and Integrity are priceless.

General rules for the students

 To appear in the examinations, you must have at least 60% class attendance.
 Your decision regarding course taking or dropping must be confirmed by the Head of the
Department.
 Submission of assignment(s) is a must. In case of late submission, marks will be deducted.
 Appearing in presentation(s) and class test(s) is also must; unauthorized absence will result in
marks deduction.
